The "You should ask him out. You're a strong, independent woman." line wasn't in the book. Are you a fan of the series that loathes what Melissa Rosenberg (screenwriter) did to the book in transferring it to screen? I've noticed a pattern in fans of the series (books) disliking the movie due to the script. Yes I'm a fan of the series, and of Melissa Rosenberg (since she's been involved in the amazing show Dexter), but I do mostly blame her for the flaws in the Twilight movie. However I do not "loathe" what she did to the book in transferring it to screen. I love the movie; I've seen it 7 times. But there were things that really bugged me the first time I saw it and sadly Melissa Rosenberg takes most of the blame for it (from me and many other fans). It does seem like a big portion of fans of the book that hate the movie put nearly all of the blame on Melissa Rosenberg. I especially noticed this from fans of Catherine Hardwicke because when it was announced she wouldn't be directing New Moon, a lot of people kept saying that Melissa Rosenberg was the one that should have been taken off the project instead. I agree for the most part, but only time will tell. When New Moon comes out we'll know, because New Moon is going to be a really difficult movie to write (IMO). I'm glad that Melissa Rosenberg will get another chance to prove herself. Hopefully she won't mess up this time.

When I saw the movie I had no idea she wrote the screenplay until the end credits. I'm going to have to read the book now to see if it was Melissa Rosenberg who caused this to be a mediocre movie, or if the book was key in this being a pedestrian movie. I never fell for Harry Potter and his bag of tricks, so I'll see if the Twilight series can surprise me.

My two cents on this. I saw the movie, mostly because I have an unlimited card (I don't know if you have those is the US, but for 20 euros a month you can see as many movies as you want) and I wanted to check out what all the hype was about. So well, I liked it, a little bit like I liked Enchanted last year. I ordered the books, I'll read them and then I'll have a final opinion. For now : yes it's cheesy and girly, and a little bit stupid. But that doesn't make it a bad movie if you are ready to go along with that. I don't think that something has to be bad even it's done for YA, you just have to accept the fact and then judge it. I mean, Saving Private Ryan is a war movie designed for men, and my sisters and my mother liked it as much as me and my father. I don't really support the segmentation of fiction along age or sex lines : if it's good, it's good. Then, a lot of people here seem to believe that if you like Buffy you gotta hate Twilight. I can get that kind of reaction, as it's true that idealistic romance is not really whedonesque. Then again, I always thought it was something that lacked in Buffy and Angel. Maybe only Fred/Wesley is a little bit like that, but most of the rest lacks of that cheesy feeling. Joss is not a good romance writer in my mind, because he values reality too much for that. Sometimes you wanna see real feelings with real people, and you're glad to have Xander and Anya. But sometimes you want something irrealistic and dreamy, and I think that's what Twilight is about. Then, I will read the books, and we'll see then what I have to say then.

awww, why must the twilight LOVERS discuss twilight in a Twilight HATERS thread? Dx So, we are divded in two camps. Since I love Twilight you and I can't have a meaningful discussion. We have to fight to the death. Or erase one of the threads so we can all dicuss in one thread without fuss. Or maybe it's only the twilight-haters that say "Stay out of here" and we lovers are more... loving? Is this thread for only haters? Is there a rulebook, so you haters won't go to "our" thread and be asked to leave? Because I love you even if you hate, brother.

I thought the first book was repetitive poorly written and I hated the stupidity of Bella and her wanting to be a vampire it took Buffy a year to truly fall for Angel this girl was so obsessed with Edward she wanted to throw her life away for him in a week. I tell you as a guy that is not the kind of women I would want to be with.
