I was wondering, what did you all think was going to happen to Team Angel in their final moments before the screen turned completely black. Despite the new After the Fall continuation, what did you think was going to happen and what made you think it.
I thought that his final line "Let's get to work" was great for the finale but seeing it was the final season I always thought that they all died fighting -- I know its horrible but its what I could picture in my head.

What I thought first time I watched Not Fade Away? I (seriously) imagined that the Scoobies would interfere. Like Lorne cast a spell or opened a portal to call Willow, Buffy, Faith and so on as back-up. Would've been a great ending in my opinion. That was what I've been thinking before the whole comic-thing started. I kinda like my imagination still better.

A. Willow would swoop in and save everyone. Maybe a few slayers would help too.
B. Everyone but Angel & Spike dies. Angel, because then a movie could be made where he blames himself for his hurried stupid plan but later on he gets friends and discover his will to live. Perhaps he Shanshues. And Spike survives because the fans like him a lot and he would be a good addition in a movie as well.
...
I really wish that I could shut out the producer-voice in my head.
I'm a fan dammit! I care about the plot!!!

I love the comics, but they are very, very different from what I thought happened after NFA.
I thought that they all died. Think about it: it's a perfect ending for Angel. Throughout his series, he was fighting for redemption. No matter what he did, no matter his intentions, he always hurt the ones he loved. The whole point of the series that was that he could never really win, but he kept fighting anyway because it's the right thing to do. He was fighting for his redemption, fighting for what is right. It was the perfect ending that he would die fighting to save his city - even though it's his fault that the city was under attack. He was doing what he thought was right, but just ended up hurting people once again.

They all die, go out fighting.
I've had similar discussions before and always hated the "Buffy steps in and saves the day" ending lol, although I know it's quite popular.

I dont think Buffy should be stepping anywhere near Angel's ending lol. I thought that after the screen turned black Illyria would go psycho over loosing Wes and kill a heck of a lot of Beasties. Lorne would come back and help Gunn... and Angel and Spike would keep fighting until all of those darn monsters would be gone. Or Connor, Gwen and Dennis the ghost would step in!

I always thought a reunion of Buffy and Angel would make sense. I mean two pretty powerful teams that fight evil united - say goodnight, evilness!

i agree i thought that the scoobies would help, but then remember that sarah michelle gellar was up for doing the last episode but joss didnt want that as he thought that it would take the last moments away from angel, i beleive i read that some where. It was a good ending, it showed just how far they have all come from the first season, this is what they had been fighting for, for the 5 seasons.

Reviving this thread cause I didn't feel like starting a new one. When NFA originally aired it was while I was traveling and I missed it. I was so pissed. I was even more pissed when I miss the encore. I think I finally saw it months later and remember thinking what the hell. How can it end that way? Then I re-watched it and realized it was genius. If we didn't have ATF I would still be satisfy cause it was such a beautiful moment with champions standing side by side ready to battle standing in the rain and knowing that they may die. I think the only thing I didn't like about the finale was Wesley dying. I do admit that his death scene was heartbreaking and good for TV, but not Wesley.

I had missed pretty much all of the season and a lot of season 4 since college life was a lot busier than I had anticipated so I didn't know why Fred was blue, why Lindsay was back and a "good guy" or why Connor showed up with his memory returning. With all that, the ending didn't have much of an impact on the first viewing. But going back and watching the series all the way through gave it a much deeper meaning and was a great way to end (even if I wanted it to keep going).

They all get sucked into Hell, Gunn gets Vamped, Angel is made human....

I always figured that Gunn would die. Since he was fading quickly. Illyria would kick major ass, and kill almost everything. Angle and Spike would live. I mean, Angel is the main character and Spike is popular.
Then... -Shrug- I guess they'd go back to the Hyperion, and try to start over. Yep, sounds good to me. ;D

I actually never thought about it because I went out and bought After the fall the day before I watched Not fade away, and started reading it immediately after I finished it. I didn't think at the time that I would be screwing myself out of a nice opportunity to have fun speculating.

It really is pathetic that Lindsey was upset that it wasn't Angel who killed him. Just a thought.

Honestly, before any word of comic continuations surfaced, I just imagined that everyone went out fighting. It was like hundreds vs. 3 1/2 (Gunn was wounded) fighters. The whole premise of Angel and even Buffy was that no matter what, no matter how hard things get, we fight because that's what's right. So I thought it'd be an incredible fitting end for them to go out both as a show and as characters fighting.

This gave me a great idea for fan fic... I plan on watching the last disc of Season Five today when I get home, so I'll be right back. Eight hours from now.

I have not read "After The Fall" or Buffy "Season 8" , so for me both series ended with the series themselves.
It was the perfect ending to the series and I wouldn't have changed a thing. I don't even think about what would have, or could have happened after Angel swung his sword and the screen went to black. Writer David Fury made a somewhat harsh opinion of the finale, saying anyone who thought it was a bad ending (because of the ambiguous nature and there's no real closure) was pretty much an idiot. Harsh opinion from him, but I can't disagree with it. I don't like comics (though I do like comic-based movies) so that, plus this episode's ending, leave me with no desire to see what happened next. Maybe if they make a Motion Comic like they've done with Buffy, but that remains to be seen.

Every now and then I accept ATF because I find most of it actually may have happen if the show was still running. As far as Season 8 of Buffy...my mind will never change. I will never believe if the show kept going that probably about 90% of that stuff wouldn't have happen.
