I admit that I hate the character of Andrew and think Jonathan should have been the one in the middle of season 7 but what does everyone think of him on Angel. I thought again he was completely out of place. It should have been Xander who went to keep an eye on Angel. They already had a rivalry over Buffy that would have made more sense. I would have much rather Xander put Angel in his place than Andrew. Was Nicolas Brandon not available? Because if he was not having him was a huge mistake

I think having Xander woul dhave been less silly and fun, more gloom and doom. Which i think I would have prefered. The tension and loathing between those three (mostly coming from Xander) woul have been interesting to watch.
Of course, I'm bias, since I don't like Andrew. I would have prefered Hank visiting.

I would have prefered Hank visiting. Hank Summers? haha I happen to enjoy Andrew, throughout his stay in Sunny-D and LA. I think that AtS has a very different tone, one that is much more sober and, as skytteflickan88 also said, more "doom-and-gloom." Andrew's appearance in S5 of Angel also allows us to know that he is still involved with the slayers, which we now see played out fully in the S8 Buffy comics. He has moved from lackey to fully-fledged member of the slayer army. He trains the newly called slayers, and helps command the legions out of Buffy's range. I think seeing Xander on Angel would've been weird, to be honest, because Xander is so entirely Buffy's domain, whereas someone like Andrew is not as permanently connected to Buffy, i.m.o.

That's true. The writers would have had to write in much more significance into his appearance, to make justice to his character, since he means so much to the audience. Andrew was easier, since he was never a main character.

Andrew's appearance makes totally sense to me. He is the mole inside of the Scoobie Gang and has something to do with Twilight. He is evil.
In my opinion, Buffy never came to know that Angel became the CEO of Wolfram and Heart. The other Buffy in Rome, Andrew, the slayers, Giles on the phone and stuff like that - all a big deception by Andrew and/or Giles and/or Twilight and/or another big bad.
Andrew was not only out of place, he was/is also evil.
I'm pretty sure about that.

i want him to be evil so i don't have to forgive him for the bad stuff he did. but i don't think it's likely that he manipluated that much.
what did you mean about the rome slayer?

i didn't like Andrew on angel, it didn't seem right to have him there, he didn't have any connection with them part spike who he knew from Buffy. i think they should of had xander like most of u have said, it would have been better. i mean what made Andrew the qualified one to talk about what was happening, it wasn't in the Buffy clan for long. xander would of made a better person to go.

It would have been great if Xander went to LA instead of Andrew, and doubly great if he visited Cordy while she was in a coma.

I think Andrew makes perfect sense, especially in the context of Season 8. Him retreving a slayer in "Damage" seems to be pretty normal by now (#21) and Xander's role in the group seems more like a "home base" type position, where he works out of the command center unless there is a big mission (WATG for example; he still is in the big fights).
In addition I agree with SKY that his appearance would have needed more signifigance. They would have needed to make a bigger deal out of Xander coming, and it may have taken away from the story as a result.
As for "TGIQ", there was really no need to have Xander, especailly since the "Buffy" in Rome was not the real deal, and Dawn was not in school there as far as I can tell (she would be at Berkley at this time?).
Plus, Xander hates Angel (and Spike) so, why would they send him to see Angel?

I meant the buffy doppelganger in Rome (as we learned in "The Chain"). She is a part of the deception Andrew pulls (at least to me). One big, fat conspiracy.

Maybe Xander was Dracula's slave by this time.
EDIT- And xanderharris, how could the rome decoy fit into Andrew's plan?

I think Andrew is deceiving Buffy to pursuit his own plans. He is in charge of the Rome-department and has "control" over the slayer-squad there (as seen in "Damage"). The Rome-Buffy was (on accident or not) a way to deceive both Spike and Angel and confuse them. Whether she was under the direct commando of Andrew or not is a bit fuzzy, but she helped him (unintentionally or not).

I actually like Andrew i think he is very funny, but it would have been better to have Dawnie put Angel in place. Even thought they never really met. In thier fake memories they did. and Dawnie being all grown up could have told him off.

Season 8 was not even considered at the time of angel s5. So Xander could have done it. I read that the original plan was to have dawn do it but she was filming a movie. That is why I didn’t suggest they should have sent her. She would have been a big deal even if it was not as much as Xander would have

I love the character of Andrew. I really do, he is one of my favorite characters from the whole Buffyverse. I think he was an obvious choice to send into Angel because it was the type of mood lift that the character needed and I also think that towards the end, it showed good progression for his character.

I dont really feel that Jonathans character could have been carried that much longer. More growth was told from Andrew.

I hate Andrew with a blinding passion. I wish they killed him off in in s6. But no... he gets to join the Scoobies in s7. And now he's a watcher. BAH.

I love Andrew as a character just because I think he's absolutely hilarious, but even if he seemed a little out of place, I thought it was great having him on Angel because it really reminded me that the Scooby gang was still alive. It was sort of like bringing a piece of Buffy back.
