Being a huge Joss Whedon fan, I kind of felt left out a little because of the fact I hadnt had the chance to see this yet, but I just rented Firefly from the library and I love it.
Its total Joss humor and dialogue and amazingness. Wow.
Starting off, I did get kind of weirded out because of the mix of spac stuf and western stuff but I love it!

Im really glad you finally got to see it an loved it! I was little off-foot for first 2 episodes I reckon, (watched on DVD first time 2 years ago) and THEN I fell in love. It's very Joss! The actors were amazing and so were to stories. I got a workmate into Firefly the other week, so awesome! He was almost in tears after realising he'd watched the last ep! FIREFLY LOVE ALL ROUND!

Seeing as it took you a while to adjust to the space western style of it Im assuming yu havent seen Serenity yet?
which is a good thing, Firefly should be watched before serenity. It makes me so annoyed that people see the film before the tv show.lol. Serenity isnt half as INCREDDDIBBLEE without a full viewing of firefly beforehand. Nothing beats whedon on the big screen. Cant WAIT for 'Cabin in the Woods'!!

^ I Agree, serenity before Firefly is a NONO. It's so much more epic when you're a deprived Firefly fan who explodes when finally seeing SERENITY!

Yeah, as I type this Mal is standing with Inara naked in the desert.
Interesting show. Going to have to buy this series as I LOVE it. And I wanted to make sure which came first so I knew what to watch first.

Haha, its just so funny thinking of Mal naked because I think back at his character in Buffy and the two just are so different. It proves that Nathan is a good character actor.

Can you get Dr. Horrible on DVD in a video store or something or do you simply have to purchase it at a store?

Can you get Dr. Horrible on DVD in a video store or something or do you simply have to purchase it at a store? I'm pretty sure you can only get it exclusively on Amazon. I bet it's possible for some to show up somewhere else.

It's completely unavailable in Australia. And I think hitnrun is right, it's only on amazon.com or download it through itunes. (only a couple of dollars or something)

I was sceptical about the concept, but the DVDs were sooo cheap in the UK almost immediately upon release (I bought it for £17 almost as soon as it was released, which for 15 eps is fine by me). My scepticism was thrown aside instantly with the pilot, which is stunning. Then introduced it to many people. HOWEVER, and this sounds like it could be a one-way trip to hate-ville, i thought Serenity sucked the big one, and was massively disappointed after Firefly. Anyone agree even a little?

Not even a tiny little bit. ;D I'm a die-hard Browncoat and I was amazed by how Serenity was able to mix everything great about the show: character, fun, genre-mixing and insightful ideology (I used it many times as subject on anthropology essays). And genius dialogues. And Nathan Fillion. And sex. And Reavers. And Summer crying. And Summer kicking ass. Well, pretty much everything about it amazes me. Of course Firefly is the kind of show about the "everyday" of a weird family. The movie is the "answer" to the show's themes, and it's just perfect IMO. Long live the Browncoats \o/

I agree, I don't think Joss could have made a more perfect follow up to Firefly. Love, love, love Serenity.

I've been re-watching Firefly/Serenity the last couple days, and what I think Serenity suffered from is little character moments and little drawn out stories which made Firefly so special. However, I still think Serenity is an amazing movie and an epic follow up to the show. Joss crammed a seasons worth or story into a two hours and it worked, while also tying up many loose ends. I think marcos described it perfectly.

^ My sentiments exactly. I did think the movie was amazing, but at the same time I was underwhelmed with the character moments. And also (while I understand it was neccessary for movie to find an audience) I was sad about the character development being a little off from where Firefly ended. I.e the Simon/Mal relations, and Simon/Kaylee was further developmed. I also think Shepard Books relationship with everyone but Mal was ignored. Oh well, I am a browncoat and I love love love all things Fireflyness. These are just nitty picky things, but all in all, I was just so happy the movie existed at all..
