Well Kurt was especially awful this episode. If I was Mercedes I would have hardcore punched him in the face. He was actually just a massive asshole.
Other than that, I liked it! =]

Screw my ambivalence. That was the most fun I've had watching an episode of Glee in several weeks.

Sometimes people just are that way, though. I see nothing with people expressing themselves in whatever way they see fit, whether it falls into a stereotype or not. By expecting them to act otherwise, you're putting them in a box as well.
Anyways, I really enjoyed Gwyneth in this episode. She was fun. I thought the Sue-As-Principal storyline was a bit strange, but other than that I liked most of the subplots (Oh, Will, you're back to being a little bit of a jerk this week).
Also? Chicago music is always good. -goes to find soundtrack-
Still not sure how I feel about Sue's impending nuptials.

Actually, I think Kurt was pretty intuitive about how his best friend was feeling. He's giddy, yes, but he's not oblivious enough to not notice that Mercedes wasn't quite liking this new dynamic. He blew her off a couple of times, which yeah, not the best thing to do... but it's remarkably deja vu-ish of S4 of BtVS. Except with more sensitivity on his part.
Musical numbers were okay. Was a fan of Gwyneth's "F- You", but not so much her duet with Rachel. Loved Will's dream sequence with Mike... very athletic, and Morrison is such a strong male dancer. I actually thought that Mike (Harry Shum Jr) kinda struggled a little in that piece, which I thought was surprising.
The "Umbrella/Singing in the Rain" mash up was nice, visually. What I didn't like was how it was composed of multiple cutscenes, instead of a fluid piece of choreography, which is what made Will's dream piece so good. Loved the production values, the costumes, the sound of it... but other than being pretty, not wowed. But I'll state a couple of things now. One... that autotune is out of control. I want to hear real voices, not the heavy-handed tweaking that they keep serving. Two, I actually prefer it when they don't do straight ports from the originals to the show. The changed up melody of "Umbrella" actually worked for me.

Sometimes people just are that way, though. I see nothing with people expressing themselves in whatever way they see fit, whether it falls into a stereotype or not. By expecting them to act otherwise, you're putting them in a box as well. That's not what bothers me. As a gay guy I have a ton of flamboyant friends that are just naturally flamboyant and that really doesn't bother me because they are who they are. What annoys me about Kurt (and I feel like I'm on some crazy hate train for him because I keep complaining about him recently but I actually don't mind him that much) is that I feel that he's putting on a large act, which seemed even more apparent this episode, and trying to be as gay as possible because he feels he has to fit that. Not because it's who he really is. Do I think he's naturally flamboyant? Yes, but nowhere near to the degree that he represents himself as. It seems to me he's so entrenched in trying to be part of gay culture he's forgotten to be something aside from it. Which I believe because he so easily flipped a switch earlier when he wanted to be a 'straight guy', I mean no one believed him because well, it's Kurt and whatever. But it's like he finds the stereotypes of what he wants to be and conforms to them. As for the Mercedes thing, could not disagree more. He blew her off several times to hang out with some guy, which is whatever, people do it all the time. But then he's acting like he's some guru on love, that she eats her emotions and that without him she would just eat tater tots all the time. Essentially. If I was Mercedes I would have straight up punched him in the face. I think the reason why it angered me was because he was acting like he was so much better than her, or at least that's the way it came off to me. Like I said earlier, sorry to be on a crazy hate train for Kurt. I actually don't mind him, in fact, I can find him a quite likeable character at times but he just does things that bother me a lot.

I thought the episode was really enjoyable. While I loved Holly, she was really the only great thing in it. The 'tots' plot was silly, and it felt like nothing really happened in the overall plot. So, what? Is Sue still the principal?! o.o And Sam's only line, "He [Will] taught me how to tie my shoes." ... Since when is Sam a male version of Brittany?! Was this meant to make him seem that stupid? Come on now. The writer, Ian, wrote the persona of Sam's in Duets, which I loved, but he failed to carry that over into this episode was well. I know there's more important things than Sam's personality, but at least TRY to make him stay in character. He's been: Normal guy, weight watcher guy, doesn't care about feelings guy, and now male Brittany guy. :/ Not too pleased with this. Okay, my ranting is over. It really was a fun, good episode. Next episode looks amazing. Let's hope!

I totally understand what you mean now. I hadn't exactly noticed him acting any gay-er this episode, but I do see how he could be 'reshaping' himself, based on a few of the other episodes. So it's definitely possible that he's just trying to fit in with Blaine and whoever else. Hopefully it's something that he'll get past.
Sorry if I sounded hostile earlier, I just can't stand people hating on others just for being who they are... (It happens a lot at my school, is all).
This is random, but the inspiration for the weight-watcher thing could've be taken from the actor himself. I read the other day that Chord Overstreet does toning exercises for three (or possibly more) hours a day! Pretty intense, if it's true. I mean, I guess there was a point where I exercised that much, but I wasn't exactly mentally healthy at the time. xD

I wasn't really a big fan of this episode. None of the musical numbers stood out to me and I found Holly annoying. Also, Kurt was really rude to Mercedes this week. Seriously it's not hard to at least make an attempt to include someone into a conversation. Also, I personally have an issue with being canceled on when someone wants to spend every second of their life with a love interest, so I was a not liking Kurt much this episode. Also he layered on the gay stereotypes extra hard this week and I'm really seeing your point on that lightandmagic. Kurt is usually my favorite character though, so I'll probably be back to loving him next week.

And yeah, you and orangejuicepony are probably right, the introduction of Blaine in his life probably plays a large part in his 'upped gayness' recently.

I have a feeling there'll be some Sinn next week. Sam getting down on one knee? In front of Quinn? In the science room from Duets?! And they're wearing the exact same clothes as Duets?! Omg, maybe there's actually going to be some continuity! ;D Will it be in character? Let's find out... Next week.

Loved the episode. Gwyneth Paltrow was way better than I expected. I'm surprised Will didn't hit on or make out with her. "Forget You" was the standout song for me. Terri being back was great. I know I'm in the minority, but I like her. The tot plotline sucked. I really doubt any student would make that big of a deal for tater tots. Mercedes being demoted to a stereotypical fat girl really made me angry. As usual Kurt was annoying and Sam was cute. Still don't like Blaine. Agreed with the dancing. It kind of annoys me in Glee in general when someone's singing and they all join in and dance along all perfectly choreographed cause it just seems so over the top. But Kurt always especially annoys me when he joins in on the dancing festivities because he's just so well, gay about it all the time. Which wouldn't bother me except that I always get the impression from the character that a lot of who he is -- the 'fabulous' hair, clothes and attitude -- is in a lot of ways, an act, and I hate when people live up to stereotypes or try to mould themselves into the little box society has created for them. Well Kurt was especially awful this episode. If I was Mercedes I would have hardcore punched him in the face. He was actually just a massive asshole. Other than that, I liked it! =] I love you. He doesn't know Mr. Schue as well as the others, so he might've not been taking the whole thing too seriously.

I don't know... It's a solid theory, and I'd love for it to be so, but I just don't think the writer(s) would expect the average watcher to pick all that up in one line. Especially since it was moving along so fast. Oh well. For now, I shall try to buy this idea. I do hope for more focus and in characterization on Sam next week; I think there will be from what I hear.

does anyone else wonder why Sunny is going to come back into play? We haven't heard anything about her or vocal adrenilin since the first couple of episodes... This weeks episode was ok... I didn't really like it, I thought singing in the rain/umbrella was unique but since i don't particularly care for either of those songs it didn't really apeal to me... I loved the "I finaly found another Journy song we haven't done!" I thought it was funny... Sam still annoys me I think Mercades needs to grow up, your friend has a boyfriend, get over it... oh and did they take away your fav food... booo hooo.... I can't wait to see what they are going to do with Kurt and the football player, is it going to be a mathew shepard thing?

I imagine they set that up to pay it off at Sectionals, so she'll probably join New Directions after that. Or they're setting her up to be part of the villain that is VA. Either way, I'm pretty sure she's being forgotten for the moment. Which is sad because her duet with Rachel in "Auditions" was fantastic and one of my favorite parts of that episode.

There hasn't been enough scandal this season. Can't wait! I've been really disappointed with the treatment of Rachel's character lately. Has anyone else? She's practically been a background character. Hopefully, she'll be given more stuff to do when sectionals comes around. As long as she and Finn don't break up, I'll be happy.

Can't wait to see their "Thriller"! I do think they have been a little mean to Rachel's character, but I kind of like that they aren't focusing on her as much as they have. The only part of why I got them putting her in the foreground so much is because the character herself demands it. Otherwise I just thought that they had underused the rest of the characters. Though I do think the writing for her this year is kind of sloppy. Before even when she was being a bitch you sort of felt for her through her desperation but this season she's either in the background or like super irritating. However really loved her Chicago number with with Gwenyth Paltrow, they did an excellent job with that, and this was an episode where I felt like vintage Rachel was there.
