I saw Jack Johnson last night.
It was fantastic. I'm still a little giddy from it, and it was over a good fifteen hours ago.
It was raining off and on all day, which was making us feel a little anxious, because we had lawn seats. We got there right when the doors opened, and we were one of the first 200 hundred people in, so we got free lawn chair rentals. And as one of the first 200 people in, we got really good seats, right up next to the fence, with nothing obstructing our view. And as an added plus, it stopped raining fifteen minutes after we got there.
Since we had such a long time to kill, what with getting there when the doors opened, we wandered around for a bit, and there was this whole line of tents that were all charitable organizations. If you talked to them you got a chance to submit your name to get picked to go up on stage. (We lost). It made me love Jack Johnson even more though, because I love when famous people are also activists. Especially for the environment, like Jack. But while we were headed back, my sister stopped to buy a beer, and Jack Johnson walked right behind us. If we had faster reflexes, we probably could have talked to him.
As it is, he was playing a mini-show with G-Love and one of the members of the Animal Liberation Orchestra. And we followed him there, and we were within ten feet of him the entire time. It was amazing.
The actual concert was incredible. He sounds really great live. I was worried that he would only play new stuff, but he played more of his earlier stuff, which was awesome, because In Between Dreams is probably in my top 5 cds of all time. The encore was fantastic, because it was just him and he played Do You Remember (my favorite Jack Johnson song EVER.), Angel, Constellations, and then brought the rest of the band back on for Better Together. It was so sweet, and awesome, and I was so happy I could have cried, if I were the crying type.
