I'm down for encouraging people to try out script format. It's pretty easy to learn, especially while using CeltX.
Agreed, bitsy, that less is more.

I was thinking, and what about a "Crossover" theme? Like Buffyverse meets [whatever].

Why need a special format for screenplays?
(I haven't seen many screenplays)

So guys, what prompt do we want to do next?
I'm thinking a drabble would be a nice one. So exactly 100 words. But what about the subject? I'm personally loving Wyndam's idea of doing a villain's POV.
What do y'all think?
Oh and also - to the winners of the first challenge, you'll be getting a prize very shortly!

Drabble = 100 words? That sounds challenging, but fun. Wyndam's great idea could easily fit that. I'd be up for it.

I agree VampSlayer. I imagine Dark Willow will be a popular choice.
I am going to try to submit something for this one since I was a slacker and didn't submit on the last challenge.

Im new to the whole fan fic thing and don't know much writing stuff. And I don't know if I already said this as an Idea but I would love to write about a dream that one of the Scoobies had. It would be so interesting.

Script format = writing using the rules of scriptwriting for Hollywood movies, TV shows, etc. More information is here. Celtx = free program for writing in the correct script format for whatever media you happen to be writing for. Available here. I'm a fan of the drabble/double-drabble formats. May I suggest a theme? "Define the relationship between two characters using an everyday, normal situation." Could be interesting.

At the moment I am using Microsoft Word but CeltX seems more helpful for fan fics. I'm a fan of the drabble/double-drabble formats. May I suggest a theme? I want to do another drabble.
Or maybe a specific kind of poem that's easy to learn how to write(that is if The Muse is up for lots of questions).
Or maybe a fairy-tale challenge.

I like the idea of easing into more difficult/longer mediums.
Free-for-all was great for first challenge because it gave everyone a chance to be comfortable with what they wrote, drabble was great for second challenge because it's very short - meaning it pushed long fan-fic writers out of thier comfortzone and helped introduce fanfiction writing to the newbies. I think the next challenge shouldn't be TOO different but not the same either.
So perhaps a double-drabble or a short fic for the style would be appropriate. So it would be a little longer than this time, and help the newer writers get into the fanfic world a little deeper, and would still be challenging for everyone without being overwhelming (like script-writing might be for some of us!).
Personally, I think if we keep upping the difficulty each challenge (not by yards but just slightly altering the expectations) participation will do well. By challenge 5 or 6 we could try harder things (like script writing, 2000 word fics and stuff) but I worry that too much variation with the difficulty level this early on could scare away participants.
Theme-wise... I'm interested to know what you're suggesting with fairy-tales Sky? That sounds like it could be fun? Do you mean like incorporating well-known fairy-tale elements into a story containing Buffyverse characters (like a white-rabbit villian, or a poisoned apple and stuff)? or writing an actual Fairy-tale type story? and if so how?
Depending on the medium different themes would be more appropriate than others
HH's idea: "Define the relationship between two characters using an everyday, normal situation." would definately be good for another short medium.
Unlikely pairings could be a good one too, or something like 'add a character to a scene they were never in' using canon event/scene with an extra - so different outcome or dialogue or something.
I don't know! just ideas ;D

I was thinking that it should be told like a story you would tell a ten years old, but the themes would be adult. "Once upon a time, there was a slayer. She was the strongest slayer the world had seen in centuries, but she had a weakness. A fatal weakness it turned out. Vampires and their enticing bodies. One day, she patrolled the cementary, punning and staking, when suddenly..." You use fairy-tale/children's books story-telling, but use a gory theme. Rhyming would probably be a plus. I also think a double-drabble, two characters' POV of the same event, would be cool.

Oh, I had a great idea (Its probably not great). Anyway, I thought it would be good to write a short piece on a battle. Weither it is a fight between two people or a huge battle between good and evil is up to you? How does that sound? Oh, or we could do something really random. Like a random conversation at the bronze, that could be cool. Please dont laugh at my ideas
