Erica: 80's Spike has got to be one of my favorite versions of him. So hot. And Essentially yours: When Spike stands behind Joyce and makes all the scary faces I laugh so hard. It's one of my favorite funny moments in the series.

Love the one of Spike leaning on the cross with smoke rising. Such a powerful scene. "Can we rest now Buffy?" Gets me every time. Also loving the Hawaiian shirt. Definitely a low point, fashion and otherwise for Spike. The Giles/Spike tea time pic is one of my faves.

This is one of my favorites. It makes me think that Buffy's done baking. That's right, Spuffy love. But at the time I was like, "Wow, bad job Scoobies! You left his hands free." What's to stop him from untying himself and getting the hell out? Oh that's right. Cookies.

But at the time I was like, "Wow, bad job Scoobies! You left his hands free." What's to stop him from untying himself and getting the hell out? I think I had the same exact thought when I saw the scene. I figured he didn't break the chair in Pangs because he was tired from hunger, but in Something Blue, he must have gotten pig blood, which means he could have broken the chair and run away. Unless he was afraid of Buffy. Maybe he was only in the chair when she was around and chained in the bathtube the rest of the time, which means he had no (good) chance to escape. That doesn't explain why he didn't run away later on when he's untied/unchained tough...

That doesn't explain why he didn't run away later on when he's untied/unchained tough... I mean, thinking back to that scene, I figure he has a better chance staying alive with the Scoobies than risking being found by the Initiative again. Didn't Giles say they had no intention of hurting a harmless creature or something to that extent? Also, and this is my theory, I feel that he's always had this underlying obsession with Buffy and he just wants to stay close to her. After Spike helped her out in Becoming, I had a feeling that there was going to be a bigger development in their relationship.

You're probably right. Both about the scared-part and the hidden-love part.
Spike could have run away, out of town, to safety. But he might have stayed for Buffy.
I always thought he stayed(after he felt relatively safe from the initiative) because he wanted the initiative to take out his chip, but maybe that was his excuse for staying near Buffy.

That's another good point. Although, I'm not sure he would've been able to convince the Initiative to remove the chip.

He almost succeeded in Out Of My Mind. If the doctor had been able to perform the surgery, he would have.

Penny for your thoughts? I forget that the doctor worked for them! To me this counts more as a Harmony scene-- her and her disregard for hospital policy. Hehe!
