I just finished watching Not Fade Away for the first time a few minutes ago, and I'm almost positive the girl he was talking about is Buffy (since Wolfram and Hart took away his chance to become human and be with her again... jerks). Fred and Cordelia don't really make sense, since Wolfram and Hart wasn't really involved in either of their deaths. he's talking bout fred...

Sue, that's an awesome work of art! It would make an awesome cover. Yeah, tha's a reference to Fred in the preview. She wouldn't have died if Angel hadn't played W&H's game... which is something that (ironically) Lindsey warned Angel about way back when he left at the end of Season 2. Angel risked a lot to rescue Fred from Pylea, and everything was relatively fine until they ended up at W&H. If Angel Investigations hadn't been wooed by the cotten candy and toys that W&H dangled in front of them, Fred would not have ended up being near Illyria's sarcophagus and getting "infected" by Illyria. If Gunn hadn't wanted a lawyer mind enhancement (since it was failing), he wouldn't have signed the papers that allowed the sarcophagus into the country. It's kind of like Obi-Wan in Return of the Jedi: "from a certain point of view"

Hey guys, it's Brian Lynch. I co-plotted and scripted the book. I really hope you enjoy it. Sitting down with Mr. Whedon and learning about what they had planned for season 6, and then incorporating it into the story, was one of the most exciting experiences of my life thus far.
I was just reading your threads, and a lot of you seem really excited about it, and I thank you.
And Mikey, while it is hilarious that you pop up like Grouchy Smurf every thread to remind people you're not reading it, your facts, unlike your hair, are just wrong: Joss had a lot to do with the series, he laid the groundwork, he and I came up with the entire story, his touches are all over it. Also wrong (oh Mikey, you are on a reverse roll today) is the fact that it's not canon, which it most definitely is. That's kinda the whole point, the official continuation of Angel's story. But please, Mikey, PLEASE don't lose that "I'm not reading it" attitude, I laughed out loud whenever you popped up to remind people that you weren't reading it. You know what I do when I choose not to read something? I don't read it. I had no idea I was supposed to tell people I wasn't. So the following is a list of things I will not read today:
1. BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY 2. THE COMPLETE WORKS OF JIM DAVIS: FROM GARFIELD TO US ACRES 3. the phone book 4. Mikey's blog ("Day six of not reading ANGEL...going well. Got the word out to a few people. really changing some minds. Hair: still fabulous.")
Anyway, everyone that reads it, I hope you like the series. Going to be a very fun ride! And anyone in the Los Angeles area, come on down to Meltdown Comics from 12-2 and hang out. Gonna be a signing and whatnot. We can talk and I'll spoil and show you guys some advanced art work.
Thanks guys! Enjoy your day!

Hey Brian, it's Paul here from Italy.
Been reading Buffy S.8 thanks to my comic shop who's been importing the books and looking forward to order Angel: After The Fall.
You (or Joss himself) are not planning any trip to Italy any time soon, are you? Cos here we have a pretty strong fanbase, each year we organise a national buffycon, previous dark horse comics and buffy novels have started being published, and reruns still get good ratings.
Do you have any info regarding the future writers for the Angel S.6 series? Any writer from the tv show by chance?
Plus, i kinda have the same doubts regarding joss's involvement in the comic - i mean, after reading your post it's clearer, but still, what's the difference btwn his job for Angel and the one for Buffy? he seems like on Buffy he's the showrunner, while he's just the exec producer of angel - which looks like the situation back when both the tv shows were on air. So if it actually is this way, can we hope for some one-shot or an arc penned by Joss?
Thanks,
Paul
P.S. i shouldn't be asking this but can you please please bring back Cordy? she was such a great and wise character from season 2 on, and that jasmine-arc really gave her a crappy sendoff (nevermind her appearance on the fifth season, it still doesn't do her justice). Will force each and every one of my friends to buy multiple copies of the book if you resurrect her!

Woo hoo! Brian joined us I emailed him a while back. Anyway I am about to go get my issue. Can't wait! Also, since this is a discussion for the issue itself and since it's out now, we don't have to worry about spoilers. Free, open discussion! If people don't wanna know what happens, they probably aren't reading this thread yet anyway.

Hi Brian - I was so surprised to see your message - 'cause I hadn't thought you would have even looked at the fan site. Please stop in from time-to-time. I'm in Canada (British Columbia) so it is unlikely that I will ever get to stop in at an event or comic con. In fact, because it is Canada, we may be a day or two later getting our copies of the first issue.
So happy to have both Angel and Buffy continue on in comic format. thanks heaps.

Absolutely amazing. I loved every single page of it. It was so epic and dark.
I so did not expect to see Wesley. His entrance was great! So his contract went beyond death too. I wonder who he's taking orders from in The White Room. Holland? Or maybe hopefully Lilah?
I was so happy to see Gwen again, she's easily one of the coolest characters ever on the show. I feel sort of bad for her, I guess her electricity thing came back. It was nice to Nina and Connor again also.
Gunn Gunn Gunn Gunn Gunn, holy-crap! Completely shocking. I was so happy at first cause it seemed like he survived and was helping Angel get the glowing yellow thing, which I can't wait to see what that is, and then the last page when it was revealed he was a vamp, my jaw dropped, a great twist. Who turned him? Angel? And now Gunn has what Angel needs? Lots of drama to come I bet.
I also loved the Angel declaring war at the end, so kickass. Can't wait to see more next month. And Spike!
BTW- I'm in love with the dragon.

Wow guys, way to overlook what a jerk he was to me. Thanks. I really didn't think he was. He commented on the fact that you keep saying you're not going to read it...and that it's weird to see someone tell people what they AREN'T going to do that day. Weird concept, IMO, but you're free to do whatever you like. Also, he gave a compliment about the hair...although it seems you took it in the wrong light... Anyways, back to the comic...WWP!

Wow guys, way to overlook what a jerk he was to me. Thanks. Sorry Mikey - but I didn't see it that way. Brian's overall tone was gleeful; he seemed, to me, to be joking with you while clarifying things. I am pretty sure he did not intend to be nasty - but more like Lorne with the quips. When I read it, I actually thought that you would see the humour in it - and be tickled that he was 'speaking" to you in a sense. The fact that he took the time to read the threads, and actually post, surprised me as I expect his time is pretty taken up with the schedule of the comics. So, hopefully, you won't be mad a me too. Smugs (that's smiles and hugs).

Thanks guys! Enjoy your day! Hey Brian! Wow, I need to catch up on my duties as higher power. Felicia Day hasn't posted here in months. Ok, I'll start working on a surprise for the site... soon. Wow, is that really what Mikey's blog says? Does Mikey have a blog? Great to have you here Brian! The whole Mikey post has completely won you more popularity to me than I thought possible! So, the issue: SPOILERS MAJOR!!!
Some major things running through my head: Where's Spike? Where's Illyria? What girl is Angel talking about? Is it Fred? Or Cordy? Or WHO??? And, just, WHOA! Wesley in the White Room???!!! So surprising! Kind of scary. Kind of worries me. And I'm kind of liking the fish. Who would have thought that we would ever see a giant fish in a show about a vampire? Love it! It's like the faeries in BtVS Season Eight. "WARRIORS... I NEED YOU... and I am so sorry... I NEED YOU TO FIGHT." God I love this fandom.
And Gunn... I can't believe he's(!)... well, you know.Wow guys, way to overlook what a jerk he was to me. Thanks. Wow, if you think THAT's a jerk, I'm not sure you actually live in this world. I thought he was humorous and joking mostly

No. Mikey doesn't have a blog. He was being sarcastic and mocking me. I finally got that when I was reading some other posts. Either way, it was funny as the Fish. Wonder why he's not that funny over at Whedonesque.

But the comics ARE canon. Is that clear now? And, to tell you the truth, you've made me so angry before that you have a special mention in one of my blog posts. So whether Brian was trying to mock you or not (entirely doubt he was), he has my vote for Favorite Poster of the Year... and only after 1 post, hmm... I can only image how soon these posts will either be deleted or people will request them being deleted like in the BUY-A-FIGURE DAY thread. I'm cool with that if it happens. ^ You really need a sense of humor there buddy...Brian, IMO, was joking with you...how can you not see this?! *and OMG at me reading the comic and not noticing the ENDING (Gunn)...now I did...OMG!* holy crap! here i am thinking he lived! I wondered if that was a character we knew. Wow, I'm very slow tonight. Great twist!

I was making a joke, Mikey. Sorry man, sometimes tone is a bit hard to read on the internet. And I like your hair, for honest and for true.
But enough about me, are you going to read the comic? You haven't said one way or the other yet.
See? That was an adorable joke.
Thanks to everyone who read the book, hope you liked it. The best is yet to come!
