My stupid shop didn't get the issue in. They didn't have Blood & Trenches #4 (from last week) either. *grumble grumble*

My stupid shop didn't get the issue in. They didn't have Blood & Trenches #4 (from last week) either. *grumble grumble* What? That's strange. They're pretty popular titles. You should complain! What the deal with the whole Conner and Dez thing? You think she will be a character going forward? It depends on what the ongoing writer decides, but with the last page, Armstrong definitely set both James and Dez up to be main characters.

I held my comments for aftermath till it was through bc i knew it would be unfair to have a bias opinion before it had its time to shine but I honestly have to say that first off, they could have done what they did in two issues what they did in five. One issue could have been talking about the posessed people and the other about the powers, potentates and reality balance twosome...maybe three issues to be generous but in those five issues it feels like all that happened was setup. Setup for the powers as antagonists. setup for new characters. setup for the next writer. I wouldn't be so disappointed if there had been any kind of meaningful resolution but we are at the end af an arc scratching our heads wondering what the future of angel is ( post gunn and dru)...its a sad day when their is uncertainty rather than hope for angels world

Well... this issue did at least show that they were going somewhere with this story... even if it was a place Philip K. Dick already went years ago with "The Minority Report."
Kelley Armstrong also seems to have read my mind about the "Powers as Big Bads" angle. I wonder if the fact that she was allowed to go down that road means that Joss doesn't intend to do so himself.
Gotta say, after seeing his work for an entire arc, Dave Ross is not a good fit for "Angel." The poor coloring job didn't help matters either.
It does look like James and Dez are set to be regular characters. They are both OK characters that a good writer should be able to run with. I gather Dez is gradually losing the ability to hold human form, and that she and Connor are going to have to find a way to fix that.
Thankfully, Cordelia was left out of this issue. I'm going to pretend that her gratuitous appearance last issue was just a fake the Powers were using to try and mess with Angel's head.
Overall I thought this was the most interesting issue of the arc, and I'd give it a B-minus.

I don't remember where I read it but I think chris ryall mentioned how the next writer for angel from after the temporar lynch return was going to focus on a smaller cast so the question is how small is small..like say...dez, james, angel, connor, kate small?

i got my issue today(today was the day i found to download it, i live in brazil, and we dont have the comic here... in november they,ll release the frist arc of buffy, altogether, in one issue :/) and o carefully read all these arc again.... and i kinda liked it the resolution.... i liked the new cast(kate, connor, james, dez, gwen and angel), but i do miss illyria, i know she'll have her trying to be humans issue with gunn, but, shes illyria, she must be part of the team... they've kill fred, wesley and cordelia... and i think the original gang(angel, cordy, wes, fred, gunn and lorne) were the best time of angel, so i think we should have more of than.... and illyria is the best character to be developing.... and i do dissagree qith you guys who dont like to see cordelia... till today i mourn her death... and everytime she appers makes me happy... so i a little guilty i say this but... i do think that cordelia could be a regular again... shes on a high plain... shes angel contact with the powers that be... She's the grey on the powers.... what i mean is.... this arc showed the powers trying to do the "GOOD". we saw that on season 4.... and now again.... that was my felling when i finished this arc... but cordelias being a power turns things diferent... she was human... shes accendend... shes not like the powers, shes the grey area... and i would love to se that again...( i really love cordy..) im trying to accept the fact that, wes and fred are gone for good so, im taking to long to tell this hehehe.... i think this arc was about seeing the grey areas.... and reafirm(like in season 4) that peace is ours to get. angel is there to help.. his doing what he can... his speech was all about what the series was... redemption and free will. i felt that he is one step closer to shanshuu... i dont know whats gonna happen next... dont even know the ideia of the next arc... but i think its gonna be great, why is that? i hated the most of this arc, but in the end... like in the last 5 pages(since the speech) it was all worthy, so... the next arc, gonna be better... do anyone know whats is gonna be??? its like 1 gunn illyria stand alone issue? and druscillas arc after? will drus arc be part of the "main" story, or gonna be like spike after the fall(i only read the 1 and 2 ones, and i understood the hystory well) thank you... and sorry for the BIG POST!!! really happy with the conclusion of this arc... got over my spectations

Then the new creative team will join in issue #28, and we will find out more about what is coming next in one month at Comic-Con.

I thought Only Human was going to be five issues, swear I read that somewhere. That was most likely a mistake in a recent press release. All signs point to it being 4 issues.

Why? That's all I can say. Why? For starters, great arc. Read altogether and everything works, but it coming out monthly was a bad decision based on Kelly's writing capabilities. She somehow set it up like an episode, TEASER, ACT ONE, ACT TWO, ACT THREE, ACT FOUR.....
But, to end it on the note that it did with the whole "They're killing humans" doesn't give me the resolution I hoped. The arc should of ended without that cliffhanger sort of ending. Unless, there's some sort of CONTINUATION from this arc.

I just read this, or tried to, and... Wow. -_-
I read the first two issues, and skipped to this one. I wasn't even sure if this was the right issue, because of the ending.
If Kelly thinks anyone would want to continue her story line, she must be nuts! I hate her characters she made, and in my opinion, she completely ruined Connor in this arc. Kate was okay, I guess. And the whole 'Angels' from TPTB is retarded!
I really hope the next writer cuts out Dex and that Angeldude.
Im sorry if I sound really mean, but this arc just really sucked in my opinion. ;D

I really hope the next writer cuts out Dex and that Angeldude. I really hope for this aswell. I had all intentions of reading the five issues, but I still haven't read the last two, and I'm not planning on it since they are probably gone by now. Just couldn't continue to spend the money on something that I hated and could barely read. I'd hate if these two random, pointless characters continued to be part of the story. They just don't belong in the Buffyverse. An actual angel in Angel? You have to be kidding me. I wouldn't complain if this entire arc was ignored and just starts up again from where Brian leaves off in #27.

Well, they could just kill Dez and send James back to 'Heaven' permanently and have it never mentioned again
