Do we have any idea how many issues there will be for this? Will it be as long as ATF or shorter?

I asked Kelley Armstrong this over on her board a few days ago. I'll tell you when she replies.
Does this really warrant an entire thread through? It's a very "Here's the answer"/"Oh, cool"/Conversation over topic. Maybe it could be moved to the Aftermath #18 thread.

Yeah, next time you can probably post that question in one of the Aftermath discussion threads. It's fine though, Joe. Do you want me to delete this thread?

Wikipedia just said that based on Kelley's prior "five or six" remark.

Six issues is fine maybe Ten but no more depending on the story it will give us another nice "hardback" edition to add to After The Fall. (notice how I added in the sly "hardback". I love them like this the paperbacks do no justice to Buffy season eight)

What is wrong with ten issues then? That would just mean we would get 2 HC's instead of one. Not saying Angel will continue on for another ten issues, but I want Angel to continue on for as long as he still has a story to tell. I believe Chris Ryall said there are plans for Angel to continue until at least issue #25. We will probably learn more about the length of Aftermath when the issues start coming out.

"Aftermath" itself is at least five issues. Know that for a fact. Could be a sixth, but I haven't seen/heard anything yet.
I'm fairly sure the "Angel" title will continue way past "Aftermath" though. It's their biggest selling title and I can't see the logic behind not making it an ongoing.

Yeah, I am all for it going past "Aftermath" but as long as Joss Whedon is involved (is he involved in Aftermath?) but if not (that would be shit) then Brian Lynch (why isn't he writing any more by the way ? ) ... Wiki says that "Fantasy author Kelley Armstrong will write the arc, with Brian Lynch writing another continuation" is Brian Lynch writing more? Anyway, More canonical continuation of Angel (Maybe Cordy, Wes, Fred, Connor, Darla ect...) I can't think of anything better!

After The Fall has been brilliant and Aftermath looks like a nice continuation of that but if IDW keeps Angel going which I think is great but they need to draw a line and say what is a canon continuation and what is just a nice comic book to read and pass time. For me there is a difference. For instance with, Angel: After The Fall, Angel: Aftermath and then if they continue the Angel series with something else like "Angel: Lost Prophecy" Then we should be told how close it will be to the previous books. Will Wesley be in it? If so then it is not canon or they need to set it during season 5 of Angel or one of the previous seasons. Does any of this make sense?

No, what are you talking about? lol books? ;D But your right about needing to draw a line and say what is a canon continuation and what is just dragging a story on..

Yeah, I am all for it going past "Aftermath" but as long as Joss Whedon is involved (is he involved in Aftermath?) He's not involved in Aftermath. Not even in direct contact with Kelley.

Whedon Fan, if it's kept as an on-going with the same numbering, it will definitely continue with the same characters and basic overarching stories. Different stories, yes, like "Aftermath" and "After the Fall" will be different, but the long term character development will increase. IDW doesn't need to say anything about canon, because they have the Angel lisence. Nothing is going to contradict their main line, which they've said "counts." Joss Whedon isn't going to do more Angel because he doesn't have time, I think.

I know Joss is busy, and I don't expect him to keep overseeing Angel forever, but it is his baby and I hope he continues to stay in some kind of touch with it. Like I hope he has some assistant somewhere in charge of telling him that issues 37-43 are set to be called Angel: the Circus, and will be about Connor and Lorne struggling to get their new Vegas lounge act on it's feet, while Spike and an unstable, alchoholic Illyria try to find a way into the hell dimension where Gunn is held hostage by a cartel of interdimensional drug running demons, and Angel and the dragon finally succumb their forbidden love. I agree, there needs to be a line drawn if Joss can no longer pay any attention at all. However, Brian has convinced me that other authors can treat the characters with as much love and respect as they deserve, with only the occasional yea or nay from Joss. And I'm willing to give anyone a chance 'cause I'm a flat out junkie. And Brian has earned my total trust and adoration. He can come back and write more Angel any time he wants to, and it'll always be canon to me, no matter what Joss says.

January 17th 2009, emphasis mine:
Kelley Armstrong: It's Angel, not Buffy. A five issue story arc. There's no firm release date with these--when they're ready to go to press, the release date will be decided. I've been told "spring," but that's it. And unlike the books, I don't get x copies free, so there won't be any for prizes (my prize stash comes from the author copies I get contractually)
Also, Kelley is working on the first draft of Issue #5 right now.

Thanks for posting that, enisy. With only five issues (unless the Aftermath arc is extended), we will probably learn what IDW has plans for after issue #22 comes out in a few months.
