Why should I register?
To fully utilize the abilities of this forum...plus, it's fun! Registration is free, and allows you to do the following:
- Post new threads
- Reply to other peoples' threads
- Edit your posts
- Receive email notification of replies to posts and threads you specify
- Send private messages to other members
- Enter events in the forum calendar
To register, you will need to specify a username and password, and a valid email address. Entering your email address will not leave you open to 'spam', as you can choose to hide your email address, and messages sent to you via email do not reveal your address to the sender in any case. We have configured the forum to send you the final part of the registration process by email, so ensure that the email address you provide is valid and working.
If you are under the age of 13, we may require that a parent or guardian provides consent before allowing you to complete the registration process. More information about this is available during the registration process.
What are Moderators?
Moderators oversee specific forums. They generally have the ability to edit and delete posts, move threads, and perform other manipulations. Becoming a moderator for a specific forum is usually rewarded to users who are particularly helpful and knowledgeable in the subject of the forum they are moderating. With that said, most of our mods are 'global' and help out everywhere they wish with no specific boards assigned.
What are Watchers?
Our forum Watchers are friendly volunteers who offer to assist and guide you through the ins and outs of the site. Things such as helping you get an avatar and banner, point you towards helpful threads like this one, etc.

Can I talk/posts links about free downloads?
NO NO NO! It's called illegal for a reason...
How big can my signature and avatar be?
AVATARS: 100 by 100 PIXELS
SIG BANNERS: 500 by 150 PIXELS
Please keep your signature and avatars relatively small sizes. There are members on here with slower connection speeds, and it does become a hassle to the loading speed. Signatures with inappropriate content will be removed by the staff immediately. You can PM a staff member if you find any that we may have missed. Avatars/Icons should be 125 by 125 pixels in size. If not, use an image editing program to re-size the image yourself! I am also offering to re-size desired images for you, so let me know if you need assistance.
I have zero graphic skills, can't I get some nice person to make me an avatar or banner? Pretty please?
As a matter of fact we have plenty of people here who would love to make something for you!

How long can my Display Name or personal text be?
TRY and keep your display name and personal text to a small length. Overly large names and text stretch the boards and it becomes a hassle to other members.
How can I edit my Display Name? I see some people have theirs with capital letters, and symbols!
Everyone on the forum has two names, one is the log-in username (which cannot be changed) and the other is called your Display Name. The Display Name automatically will set itself as your username, but you can change it at any time! Here are the directions:
- Make sure you're logged in, and click the 'Profile' button in the menu bar
- Click 'Modify Profile' from the Profile screen
- Enter your desired name in the 'Display Name' form
- Then click the 'Modify Profile' button at the bottom of the screen to save your changes!
I lost my password. What do I do?
There are a couple things you can do:
* On the Login Page, right next to the Password Box is the forgot password link. You can click that and your password will be sent to your email.
* If your email has changed and it hasn't been updated here, you can email an admin, and they will make you a new one. It can either be sent to your correct email, or you can request a specific password (the latter is not advised).
I can't get HTML to work right in my posts!
HTML is not allowed to be used in Posts and Sigs here at Proboards for security reasons. You can use UBBC however.
How do I send a Private Message?
Click on the person's name whom you want to send a message. This will open their Profile. Then click on the "Send this member a private message" link.
