"Liking it" and "getting it" are two very different things. If you don't like the way the story is told, that's a subjective matter. However, the content which I listed is nothing short of being banged on your head obvious. So if someone were to make the argument that the issue was pointless, when the evidence to the contrary is obvious, then perhaps it is the fault of the reader. For not taking the time to think about the issue and making the connections. Perhaps that is patronizing, but what I find even more patronizing would be for the writers to be spoonfeeding us information. Such as in the "Predators and Prey" arc, where we're constantly being "told" that the Slayers are in trouble. The "Tales" oneshot did the opposite and "showed" us the current climate, away from the warfront, but in a regular setting. When I said "So dense that some of the people it was meant to appease don't fully appreciate it", I didn't mean that the referenced audience didn't like it. I just meant that they don't fully see the links to the ongoing S8 storyline, and are quick to scoff at it. It may be supplementary reading, but it does affect the S8 storyline.
EDIT: I will admit that rereading the quoted text, it does sound a tad arrogant, so my apologies on that.

Personally I think Tales dealt with the whole vamps out issue far better than any of the P&P issues did.
I wouldn't say it was amazing, but I think it was effective and did the job nicely.
And I don't really want to comment on any of the Dawn arc until the end of the season. I'm hoping theres more to it. But then again saying that, people keep saying Dawns plot didn't do anything for the season or her character but I think it was another situation that brought her closer to Xander. If she hadn't had the thricewise spell put on her would her and Xander be smooching right now? I know they had a few moments in The Long Way Home (bathing in the lake) and that scene in Anywhere But Here when Xander has her clothes supersized...and I like to think they had a lot of 'off camera' bonding moments with Xander consoling her about her latest morphs etc. That how I like to justify the Dawn arc anyway, but it would be nice to have something else come of it as well.
And in reply to Andrew...I dont think that people not liking this issue would mean that we wouldn't like the rest of the season. I just think the writing and art was rather lazy and in this issue didn't have enough thought put into it.

Only one thing significant about issue 29 is that the dialog is good.
The character development is connected with great dialog. Which is great to read, but the only downfall is that the storyline Its all over the place at the minute , I hope it turns around to the right way up not the opposite. .

Just read the issue. It's a marathon!!
So what can I say? The dialogs were good. The art was pretty good too. The storyline was okay.
A few things I'd like to point out though. I don't see the point of getting rid of all the magicks if in the end they have to resort to weapons... isn't it worse?? They went all the way to Tibet to switch from magical spells to grenades. Not necessarily an upgrade.
I'm not too excited about the Godesses at the end either.
I hope we're not going into silly / pointless directions.
One line I enjoyed: There's a reason no one's written a suspense novel where the conflict is wolves vs. tanks.
