Why we fight, I like the episode overall but it is one of the few where I do not like Spike. It probably has something to do with the fact that he is dressed like a Nazi.

A Hole In The World - Watching this in sequence watching the whole series I felt Fred's death once again. It was very painful and heartbreaking, but a wonderfully written episode.

Conviction - I like this season opener. What I didn't realize though was that the actor who plays Jack Hodgins on Bones also played a minor character in the beginning of this episode. I thought that was cool. Loved that Spike is on the show and I look forward to watching the two of them bicker and be petty.

Just Rewards - I love this episode. It's one of my favorites of season 5, the only thing that really bugged me though was the constant looping of Spike's lines.

Just finished "The House Always Wins," 4.3. It's good, but "run of the mill television" kind of good.
The continuity episodes in Angel, it seems to me, are usually not far behind the continuity episodes of Buffy in quality. But the non-continuity episodes just don't compare. The plot seems contrived to me, the metaphors are ham-fisted, the conclusion comes too easily. The best part is the first few minutes, before the AI team goes to Las Vegas, IMHO.
I did a very extensive edit on the Buffy wiki. When I write a synopsis, it's long and detailed, maybe too much so. If somebody wants to shorten it, I won't object. I had to edit "Deep Down," too. I'm surprised nobody put in the explanation for Lorne's "fluffy" remark to Fred. That's just the kind of thing somebody might look in the wiki to clear up. At least if somebody is me.

I hope this doesn't count as a double post ... Really, nobody watched any Angel eps in the last two days?
I just finished "Slouching Toward Bethlehem." It's a Cordy-centered episode, sort of, and I cringe inwardly whenever I see Cordy, especially when they try to make her likable.
There's a truth theme in it, and a moral quandary theme. The final scene between Wesley and Lilah is one of the high points of the Angel series, I'd probably put this as one of my favorite Angel eps just for that. And you really gotta hand it to Lilah for the way she played Wesley and Angel.
I just noticed an earlier post about "Why We Fiight." I'm not sure why, but I rather liked Spike dressed as a Nazi. Spike in those days, he would've liked the Nazis. I can imagine him following the German Army as it advanced into Russia, finishing off the wounded. Why not? He doesn't mind the cold.
Funny thought I just had. If they really had to bring Spike back to get a fifth season of Angel, maybe they could've featured a series of flashbacks, so we would've seen the character even though he stayed dead. We could've learned a lot about Spike and Angel's complex relationship. I would love to see those two kiss.
I notice somebody just gave me a karma point. I'll probably lose it for saying that.

A hole in the world, This is definitely in my top 5 favorite Angel episodes, right now it's number 1. This episode starts off hilarious and the goes right on to heartbreaking and those are the two kinds of episodes that I like best.I especially enjoy how the cavemen vs. astronaut thing applies to the whole episode with astronaut Fred and team Angel being taken down by caveman Illyria sarcophagus dust.

Just finished "Supersymmetry." Not one of my favorites. It's relationship-oriented, and I'm not a shipper much. It's main purpose (how it serves the season arc) is to show Connor getting more attached to Cordelia, which bothers the still-good Cordelia, makes her come back to Angel (sort of). The ending was good. I almost liked Cordy there. It also marks the turning point in Fred-Gunn. The scene where Gunn kills Seidel was shocking when I first saw it, but it made sense later, good character-thinking. And then there's Wesley-Lilah, Lilah stalking Wesley. That's a creepy relationship, but it makes sense, and that's even more creepy.

Spin The Bottle --- this was such a funny episode. Cordelia was back in full effect. They gave her back the sass that she had been missing for a while.

A hole in the world again... with commentary, I was going to watch Shells but I was too tired to get out of bed and switch the DVDs. It was equally good this time around.

I just did "Spin the Bottle," mentioned in another recent post. One of the best Angel episodes IMHO. Lots of good character work and ensemble acting. The Angel/Connor fight scene was among the best fighting in Angel, in the Jossverse really. Good timing and rhythm, lots of tasty double entendre and sight gags, gotta love it. Sadly, it was so reminiscent of "Tabula Rasa," that got in the way a bit for me. Actually, it was maybe better than Tabula Rasa, depending on how you look at it. I loved the glimpse we got of 17 year old Fred (can we score some weed?) and Wesley (head boy). Cordy is still a bit tubby from her recently concluded pregnancy.

Just finished my Season 3 rewatch - great season, but not my favourite. Started well, and the Darla/baby arc is fantastic, but the middle of the season got a bit too silly for my liking (Provider and Couplet being the worst). I suppose with the darkness to come we needed bit of respite. I never liked 'goofy' Angel tho - I think too much of Boreanaz informed the character for periods of this year. No need for him to be too dark (a la season 2), but there were times where you wanted to slap him for grinning like an idiot:)
Amazing episodes in this season, but has some of the worst too (hello Double or Nothing, Carpe Noctem and Provider).

"City Of". Finally introducing my girlfriend to the series even though she has seen most of Buffy.

Shells, I love this episode just because it has so much Illyria in it.

Just finished "Apocalypse Nowish." Very good, but not one of my top Angel eps. We do learn a lot about Connor and his relationship with Cordelia. I like seeing Gunn be the one to solve the mystery. I know Gunn has this inferiority complex about his intelligence compared to Fred or Wesley, but he's by no means stupid, and pretty quick on the uptake. The worst part of this one: The Beast, obviously a man in a monster suit, one of the tackiest bad guys in the verse.

Underneath, My favorite part is when Hamilton walks in and punches right through some guys chest. Also it made me think when Lorne questions Angel as to why he left Gunn behind. I thought that Angel did it because he knew that Gunn needed a way to atone for what he had done, and I thought that was good reasoning at first, but now I'm not sure if I think it was morally right. It's what Gunn wanted but still, Angel left him behind in the Wolfram and Hart holding dimension without any immediate plans to free him and I'm not sure that it was the right thing for him to do.
