Wow, this is a great response already. Lots of people with great ideas and all willing to contribute. The more brains working on this the better. We can totally have the best Buffy site EVER! It really is so nice to see how many members want to help make Slayalive even more awesome.

Yeah, I think this idea is definitely of the good. It'll make SlayAlive more unique and it'd be a great way to reach out to more of the fandom. It can also show just how creative the members here are.

OK, I'm going to start spewing stuff now. -Graphics: do you think we can do a separate sort of deviantART-type portfolio of works from various contributors? I'm thinking of the various threads in the Graphics forum right now, and how each person could just get a space to throw graphics of their own designs up for people to view/use at their leisure, with credit of course. Same thing maybe also for fanfic writers? -A podcast is a great idea. Maybe we can even just start a creative story-based podcast instead of making the nth "podcast about Buffy the Vampire Slayer" or the nth "podcast about Firefly". With digital distribution there's a lot that can be done. -Combining the graphics and writing, we should have more fan-made comics and comic covers. -A "SlayAlive-apedia" is a great idea - maybe combine the rabid fan information about the shows with conventions specific to this site i.e. inside jokes and slang that's specific to our community. Going along with this, if we had detail pages for each episode, perhaps we can turn JW's BtVS Episodes poll and my AtS Episodes poll into a biannual thing, to show how our tastes in episodes fluctuate over time - say, for instance, if Hush were to win next time over Once More With Feeling. (I'm not bitter, promise!) -In addition, we should definitely have a focus on "Buffy studies" - academic studies focused on Joss Whedon's works. There are already several thousand published papers out there (and there are two online journals that publish these kinds of things) as well as a few hundred books (remember that Slayer Slang book I mentioned in The Bronze?). A nice fat chunk of reference material from those books would be a cool thing to have - so if someone wanted to talk about Buffy in a paper about feminism, or about Firefly in a paper about surrogate families, or how Whedon shows have affected the English language, they could come to a place where there's a good list of references available. This would require a lot of legwork and contributions, but it's something to consider, methinks. Overall, I think something that should definitely be considered is for this site to be more focused on allowing fan creativity to flourish - there are already several good reference points for Whedonverse shows on the Internet (and Whedonesque, which is still doing a fantastic job keeping up with news, whatever you may think about its interface), so I would like to encourage more of a "Buffy fan community" direction, where we can all get together and be nutty fans. ETA: My idea on the first page of the thread about integrating the SlayAlive Twitter into the front page, whatever that front page happens to look like, is worth doing.

I agree with everyone that many of the ideas are great so far, the only drawback is that I simply do not have the knowledge to code all of these things! I am hearing that there are scripts that I can download that are like wiki, so users can publish info directly to the page. That's pretty much something I want for certain areas of the site. A blog is do-able, and I think it would be a nice feature...possibly even for the main page. This is a great idea... Slayalive could become an all-purpose fan site/forum/resource, like Whoosh was/is for Xena fandom. It would be the perfect place to put my Buffyverse cast index and character index, and the expanded versions I'm working on for the whole Jossverse. (Would contributors to the website have access to their own documents for purposes of updating?) Andrew, I like your work. If there is no feasible way for me to facilitate contributors access to the site directly, I could always just link your site for the time being, since you can update it on your end.

I have some experience in uploading scripts etc. so if you need any help, just ask.
What did you think of the idea of a fanfiction archive? *likes fic*

I love the idea! Emmie's list from page 1 is extensive as well!
But, I just hope there's some script I can add that will allow for authors/contributors so people can add content on their own.

Speaking on the fic side of things, the efiction script is mostly automated archive software - you sign up and can submit your fic. The mods can set it so that validation is required (if you want) or so that fics just get posted automatically.

Andrew, I like your work. If there is no feasible way for me to facilitate contributors access to the site directly, I could always just link your site for the time being, since you can update it on your end. That would probably work out fine... wouldn't make any difference to the viewer, and I could easily update whenever necessary.

I don't have many talents...but like Just Willow I'm willing to help if you need anything. Graphics or videos or even some advice on coppermine galleries. I use Coppermine for my website and I know how to adjust general settings and add your own custom template.

We'll need help scouring the internet for images to upload too. I think everyone should be able to upload, make things easier. About the galleries. Should it just be one HUGE one with separate areas for screencaps, fan art, promo photos, etc?

I use one huge one to make things simple and then organize the photos into different sections and then put categories under each section. Like having Screencap section and then under that have different categories for Buffy, Angel, Firefly, etc...

i think this is a great idea, ive been really pushing for other fourms to make a Vidding section because, seriosly, i love watching, and making buffy videos. and alot of other fans share my interest in it, and it will bring alot more members to show off the vids they create.

This sounds awesome! And I'd love to contribute to the banner/avatar pages (obvs) you can have all the ones I've already done and I can do a whole new batch specializing in specific characters and relationship and episodes and seasons and a whole lot of stuff. Plus I have a lot of experience in web design, mostly for Law Offices and Dance Companies but its all the same And pretty much anywhere else you need help Also, me and a few friends are starting an official club at our college (The Whedonverse: BU Chapter) so we could promote the site. We could put it on our flyers/t-shirts/stakes . It would be great PR for the site. We are looking to expand the club throughout different colleges (via known fans) and make it a global thing so it would be a lot of good exposure for the site.
