I thought it might be a good idea to have one area to discuss the new TV Season, especially the new shows coming in to their 1st season. Rather than post a new topic for every show that may only last 1 episode, they can be discussed here.
1st up, Melrose Place:
OK, so I was skeptical when they redid 90210, but it became a guilty please of mine. I was hoping the same would happen for Melrose Place, but so far, not the case. The pilot was terrible (I thought). Ashlee Simpson Wentz is actually not featured very much, and when she is, she craps all over the screen. There is not one character I can see myself caring about. I thought maybe Jonah, the struggling filmmaker geek with a heart of gold, would win me over, but even he was irritating. Even Katie Cassidy, who I liked in Harper's Island and Supernatural, falls flat. I may give this one more episode, but not likely.
Tonight: Glee!

90210 Season Return: After a kinda dull season it finally seems to be becoming good. And every bit of Annie in hell made me all warm inside. Maybe she'll actually become interesting at some point. Melrose Place: I thought this was going to be really crap but when that annoying woman I saw from the promos who pissed me off died I suddenly became interested. It's filled with all these little secret keeping people and it looks like it's just gonna get better. Ashlee Simpson Wentz was completely horrid though. I usually never notice horrible acting but that stood out so badly. She should stick to singing.

Anyone check out the vampire diaries? I actually liked it but i love Kevin Williamson so, yeah I just watched it tonight. Overall, I liked it. It didn't blow me away, but it has potential and at the least it will be a decent teen drama with vampires. The cast is pretty good as well. I will continue to watch for now!

I'm watching it right now. It's alright. Not exactly mind-blowing, but it's better than the reviews I read lead me to believe. As of right now though, I'm totally rooting for her blond ex-boyfriend. Oh, and the main character and I have the same first name. And she spells it the right way. So that's a little cool.

Eh, it was pretty terrible. It felt like "True Blood" as written by the writers of 90210. There was one line of dialogue, where the main character and the vampire dude run into each other in the graveyard that was great. It actually pulled me out of the show completely, because the rest of the dialogue had been absolutely awful, and then this fantastic line came out of nowhere. It made me wait a second, and give the show a second chance to impress me. But then the rest of it was just really bad. Not "Moonlight" bad, but still pretty awful.
I'm going to give it two more episodes before I call it quits. I hope it gets better.

I watched the encore yesterday since there was nothing else on. Didn't hate it, but didn't like it either. The bad outweighed the good. It did hold my interest for the whole hour though. I'll watch the next couple if they add them online, but I'm not expecting it to be a keeper. I also found it hilarious that a hot blonde chick died in the first two minutes. Oh Joss, I love you.

I enjoyed Vampire Diaries quite a lot. I'm surprised other people didn't, actually.

I was actually quite surprised at the Vampire Diaries premiere. I didn't think it was bad at all. The cast is certainly above average for a show of this nature. It wasn't perfect, by any means, but it certainly showed that the people behind it aren't just trying to cash in on this craze and deliver a mediocre show with little substance. Except for the blonde chick, the acting was pretty good for a show of mostly young people. That's not an easy thing to pull off, nowadays.

I'm a fan of the Vampire Diaries book series the show was based off of, so I was a little bit nervous about whether or not the show was going to completely ruin them. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they hadn't. Sure there are changes from the book, i.e. the removal of a main character, giving Elena a brother, making Stefan and Damon American, etc., but I can understand how they need to stray from the books. They are making a weekly series, which I'm sure they're hoping will last for quitee a few seasons, as opposed to just movies where they have a better ability to stay true to the books. Yes, there was some bad dialogue, and poor acting, but that's true in a lot of shows. My one big complaint is how fake it looked when Stefan attacked Damon and they went flying out the window. And I wasn't a fan of how the vampires in this show looked when they vamped out.

Anyone catch Community [last night? I think it has potential. There were not as many laugh out loud moments as I expected, and I didn't quite expect Jeff to be such a (albeit lovable) jerk. This is one to look out for for sure, and with comedies, they usually only get better.
Highlights were Joel McHale and Danny Pudi, and hey Chevy Chase can still make me laugh!

I really enjoyed Community. Fantastic cast and writing. Parks and Recreation, The Office, Bones and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia also had great premieres.
Vampire Diaries was also A LOT better this week.

Yeah, I thought Community was also enjoyable. Everything they made fun of about a CC was true, everyone was having a blast about it yesterday during classes. Parks and Recreation was hilarious, definitely the best episode yet.

I'll be checking out Community on Hulu later. Meanwhile, holy wowzers @ the House season premiere. I mean, is this the same show? Because as much as I love House, I don't remember it being this good. Definitely my favorite House episode to date, trumping Three Stories in Season One. Just... wow. Incredible.

I agree, House was amazing. I was absolutely floored throughout the entire episode.
