This post WAS about telling other fans about James' current appearance at supermegafest 2009. But now that I have met him personally I am changing this post to tell you about my experience!
James Marsters has a heart of gold. Truly a sweet man with such a good heart. He's honest, polite, funny, and he treats you like a human being not a means of obtaining cash!
First I went to the Q&A session with James which was a blast. The questions people asked were great and 99% of his responses were hilarious. Just to clarify...he does NOT like Twilight! He said vampires do not sparkle, and they dont go around saving people left and right without killing anyone. In his words he said "I don't get it". Haha.
Also he said that he didnt understand how his chip could have worked in S4 of Buffy since he was dead and had no brain activity..and he said he thought that it was basically dragged on for far too long and he gave Joss some really good ideas but they got turned down!
I met James the first time when I got a professional photo taken with him . He was very sweet. I told him how much I loved Buffy and I thought he was so amazing in the show and he said thank you and told me he really enjoyed doing the show.
A few hours later I met James again. This time I met him for an autograph. He signed my 2010 BTVS calendar. He told me the photo of him in the calendar was the first photo that was taken of him in his role as "Spike". I then told him that I have been a fan of Buffy since 1996 when the show first aired and his jaw practically dropped to the floor! He was like wow thats amazing! I take it he hasnt heard anyone say that in a LONG time.
He then told me that he loved doing Buffy but he didnt really like Season 7 because he thought it was too serious. He missed the comedy and the connection between the characters from the earlier seasons. He was just so nice and sincere and such a sweetheart. He shook my hand twice and he looked into my eyes the entire time he was talking to me! He even stopped writing on my calendar so he could talk to me..and out of all the people in line..he talked to me the longest. He was carrying on a conversation with me like there wasnt a huge line behind me! it was amazing..I was speechless!! haha.
Also, Before I got my calendar signed, a woman from the local paper asked me where I'm from and when I told her about 20 minutes down the road, she asked me if she could take photos of me getting my calendar signed by James! She then told me that hopefully they will be printed in the paper!!!
This was the best day EVER!
