I'm so nervous when it comes to The Cabin in the Woods. It wasn't written or originally planned to be shot in 2D and was only converted to 3D later on after production had already started. The same thing happened to Clash of the Titans and just look how well that turned out. *sigh*

I hope the 3D is just scrapped, since Clash is receiving quite a bit of backlash for its tacked on 3D efforts. I'm already tired of 3D, as I have no interest in it (especially since the technology isn't flawless yet), and I will probably be sick of it by the time Cabin comes out.
The only movie I saw in 3D was Avatar and that will probably be my last. Ticket prices are already high enough.

Well, it's already been postponed, so I'm wishing for 3D now, as wouldn't the wait have been for nothing, than?
Also, must say; I read reviews of the script, and I'm super excited. ;D

I think 3D might bring in more people, however I find the 3D thing kind of annoying myself. Either way though incidently I am excited about it as I expect 3D or not the movie will be amazing.

Horror movie by Joss - not surprised it got an R. Why? Joss has spoken out about how he dislikes this torture porn shit that's trying to pass as horror, so I'm while I'm not surprised it got an, but I'm not unsurprised either.

Cheeky poke at how he likes to kill people, particularly main characters. ;D I want this movie to surprise me. That's it. That's literally my only expectation. I want to be surprised and possibly pop out of my chair - either from horror or excitement - at least once or twice.

What is an R rating? I am guessing I will be more than old enough but I just wondered?

What is an R rating? I am guessing I will be more than old enough but I just wondered? In America, we have "G" for general audiences, "PG" for parental guidance suggested for kids, "PG-13" for parental guidance required for kids under 13 and "R" for films restricted for kids under 17 unless they have a parent with them. We also have NC-17, but that's pretty much just for porn.

Ahhh ok, thanks. In the UK we have U and UC which are fine for everyone but are probably best suited to kids, PG, 12, 15 and 18. We also have E which means exempt from classification, which usually relates to music dvds and the like.

And 12As, which is like PG-13, but for 12 year olds.

I tried to get into PG-13 movies with my friends when I was 11 or 12, but they wouldn't let us in. Maybe it was just the theater's policy...

Maybe it was just the theater's policy... I've always known it to be that if you are under 13 you will require an adult. That's the rule, but some theaters aren't as strict as others. Or maybe you just required someone older then 13... Not sure about that fact.

I know about PG-13.
12 and under can't get into a PG-13 on their own, but if an over-18 says that they can see the film, they're allowed in (and no, the adult doesn't have to accompany).
It's the same with R-rated and under-17s. You just need permission from an adult.
NC-17 is the only thing (porn) that absolutely no under-17s are allowed admission for, whether they have adult consent or not.
Believe me, every elementary school kid saw Titanic (PG-13) in 1997. I remember my 5th grade class nominating it as movie of the year or some such and there was a comment about the fact that everybody in the class had seen it, yet all the kids were a bunch of 10 year olds.
I also remember some bending of the rules in 7th grade where we watched Jurassic Park, despite there still being a few 12 year olds that hadn't turned 13 yet. But again, there wasn't a single kid who hadn't yet seen it. Technically, you'd need parental permission for that sort of thing, but honestly, nobody cared and nobody complained.
And as much as Europeans like to talk about Americans being prudish, we're not the ones that edit the violence from PG-13 movies in order to get a 12 rating (Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is an example of a film that has never been released in Europe in its original form--the heart-removal is edited out even on the DVD). We don't edit foreign films on video releases to my knowledge. ToD and Gremlins were the two movies responsible for the creation of the PG-13 rating. Some pretty strong PG-13 movies were rated PG prior to 1985.
Similarly, some movies that were too strong to get a PG, and should really be re-rated as PG-13s, are considered R rated. Also, you'll see Director's Cuts with completely different ratings for this reason. Amadeus added 3 seconds of breasts and went from a PG (really a pre-1985 PG-13) to an R. I could go to Blockbuster before I turned 17 and rent The Blues Brothers Director's Cut (NR), but not the original movie (R). LOL.
Also, a lot of really old movies whose ratings are now completely irrelevant have been unrated as NR (Not Rated). Those movies did in fact have ratings, but they're now meaningless. Ratings were first put in place in the 1930s, starting with the Hays Code, after backlash to several movies that were considered indecent (Freaks is an infamous example). What was R rated in the 1950s, for example, is pretty much now considered PG.

ugh... I wish they'd just released it this year and not converted it for stupid 3D... I hope they'll have either IMAX (HOW F*CKING AWESOME WOULD THAT BE) or just standard-d because 3D literally makes me sick... plus those glasses never fit.
