So I know we don't have a whole lot of twilight fans here but I just wanted to know what people thought of the movie if they saw it.

I'm not a Twilight fan and have never read the books, but I'm being completely unbiased when I say this is just an awful movie. Horrible characters that isn't helped by horrible acting and writing. Way too long, which was obviously just to make fans happy, but too everyone else it was probably just insane. It had too many problems. I can't believe we are suppose to sympathize with Bella. She needs to be locked up in a freaking mental institution. She wants to die so she can be with this Edward guy? He breaks up with her and sits around for months? Gets on the back of a stranger's motorcycle? Lays down in the woods for days? Jumps off a cliff? Ignores her friends? Types endless emails that go nowhere? Has crazy dreams? Wakes up screaming? And when she finally starts becoming sane again, Edward comes back into the picture and she goes crazy again. She'd give her life for him? Just.... no! She needs to be heavily medicated and strapped in a bed. Kristen Stewart's monotone performance did it no favors either. The music, visuals and colors were a saving grace to the first film, but that was absent in New Moon, the look was so boring. There was one high point with that Victoria vamp and lots of running through the woods, but nothing other than that. I kept hearing people being so excited for the Edward/Bella breakup scene. So I was expecting something good and dramatic, only to find it laughable. While watching that scene I just kept going back to the Buffy/Angel breakup scene. That was some amazing acting and writing. What was the New Moon formula? Cliche line, "no", *pause*, cliche line, trembling lip, "no", cliche line, "EDWARRRDDD!!!!". Holy... crap. I was kind of surprised by Taylor Lautner though. I don't think he had to be shirtless 90% of the time, but he was charismatic and played a good character. So I'd really appreciate it if fans could point out something else good about this movie besides the fact there were many shirtless guys.

That was good hitnrun017. I guess a lot of us are also used to strong lead female characters (eg: Buffy/Willow/Faith/Cordelia) when it come to the vampire genre.

I won't watch the movie until my super-Twilight-fan niece forces me. This book is my least favorite of all the Twilight books, so I imagine this movie will be too. Bella's angst was both interesting and frustrating, but it got old pretty fast. I can't imagine the movie was very interesting, since the book's main appeal was Bella's thoughts, and I doubt even a voice over would do.
Did the movie's plot follow the book, or were some events drastically changed?

Can't really remember exact details from New Moon the book because it was my least favorite and I only read it once...

New Moon was my least favorite book too. I kinda liked the movie tho. Taylor Lautner's acting was watchable, but every Bella and Edward scene made me burst out laughing. I liked the ending too. It makes it interesting for the people who never read the books. I thought they handled the plot well enough. The whole months going by thing was pretty brilliant.

I saw it the other day. IT SUCKED!!!!!!!
The actors had no skill. Bella still looks like a man. The whole wolf story wasn't a shock, like they tried to make it. Edward still looks fugly, and has lipstick on.
Must I say more? Yes.
The whole plot overall was boring! I fell asleep twice, no lie. Things went by so slowly. And they did a terrible shot, spinning around Bella while she turns into an emo. I felt like I was going to throw up then.
Don't see this! If you do, do it for the laughs.

I also saw it last night. Sucked! Bella is no Heroine of the series. I wish that she have grown up like the character Anne Steele (Buffy/Angel) and wasn't trying to become a soulless monster all the time, whatever, each to their own I guess..

I didnt really hate the movie, but I didn't really like it either... it was just like bleh to me. I really liked the parts with Jacob and the parts with Victoria. Also the other humans are way more interesting that Bella. She's so annoying... but the guys were drool worthy and I thought the scenery was pretty... so thumbs up on that...
I would say this is a movie you can wait for to come out on dvd... but seeing as its made over $140 million dollars so far... i wont say that lol

Saw this last night. It was OK. To preface, I have read all of the Twilight books and enjoyed them. I don't consider Meyer to be a literary genius by any means, but the books were good on a plane ride when I didn't want to think too hard.
The highlight of this film is Taylor Launter. He really gets the role of Jacob, and his acting seemed more believable than Stewart or Pattinson. I'm glad they didn't recast, he well.
Pattison and Stewart are terrible. They have no chemistry. I thought it would get better since this was the second time they had worked together (plus all of the real life gossip), but no dice. What should be two most emotional scenes in the film (when Edward leaves, and when they are reunited) seem dry and really lost their impact.
I think these stories are better printed then on screen. Edward appearing to Bella seemed ridiculous, and the sparking seems a lot lamer when you actually see it.
Had I never read these books, I probably would have liked this movie less.

Had I never read these books, I probably would have liked this movie less. Agreed. The movies are awful but at least the books are half decent. And I agree about Kristen and Robert having zero chemistry. The acting was horrible all around and the performances just fell flat. The only one who did a half decent job was Taylor. Everyone else just looked like they were miserable and only there to make a paycheck. At least Taylor put some heart into his performance. The others seriously seemed like they couldn't care less. It's just really unfortunate that these movie adaptations are getting butchered in this way. The books really are a good read in themselves (I am not a fan of Stephanie Meyer in the least, but the books are good). Perhaps they should have casted differently? Who knows (and speaking of casting, was that a different girl playing Rosaline? Couldn't really tell seeing as how she was only on screen for like, two seconds in the beginning). Overall, I really think they succeeded in cranking up the cheese factor in this one. It's so sad that I wasted my money, and fought a crowd to go see this.

I went to the midnight showing on Thursday and while I enjoyed much of this movie (New Moon was my favorite book of the series because of more Jacob) the casting of RP and KS continues to be horrific, IMO. I don't find him remotely sexy and their non- chemistry is just astounding. There are no two leading characters in movies with less chemistry than these two, that I can recall anyway. I doubt I go see either of the remaining two movies since I adore Jacob and I'm not at all interested in seeing the Edward/Bella fiasco go forward. And RP and KS's acting just solidifies that opinion.

^ I agree about not finding RP sexy. I think he looked ok in the first movie, but in this one they just made him look completely goofy with the red lips, etc.

I disagree with the people that think the books are better than the movies. The one good thing about the movies that you don't get in the books is you don't hear bella's stupid thoughts. She's horribleee.

She's horribleee. But the thoughts in the books makes it a lot easier to understand what Bella is going through; Why she was so completely devastated after Edward died. The movie poorly articulated how in love Bella and Edward were in, personally. Meyer's words were better.

She's horribleee. Well, being able to hear her thoughts in the books at least gives some interest to the character. In the movies she is completely one-dimensional and boring, void of any and all personality.

Haven't seen it yet, but I probably will at some point. If only out of curiosity and the desire to see Taylor Lautner without a shirt on for a couple of hours. A couple of my friends have seen it... Didn't actually hear any movie reviews from them though, just a story about how he almost got into a fight.
I kind of like RP, but as a vampire he's just pasty, and constantly serious. In the books I rooted for Edward, but... I dunno. It's not like I value the books for their literary greatness, it's just pure entertainment factor. New Moon was my least favorite book, because Bella just goes crazy. It's all very melodramatic. My boyfriend dumped me, so now I'm going to risk death in order to hallucinate about him. Way to present a good role-model to girls today, Stephanie Meyer.

Way to present a good role-model to girls today, Stephanie Meyer. Stephanie Meyer has explained that Bella is no role model so I guess that means we have been warned? She explains it in the "Is Bella an Anti-Femnist Heroine?" question. www.stepheniemeyer.com/bd_faq.htmlOh and Taylor Lautner's shirtless self is gorgeous!
