Would it be possible to put a link, maybe at the top of each forum on the new site, pointing to the old archived forum on the old site? That would make it a lot easier to refer to the old conversations, and even copy-and-paste a quote to reply to something on the old site. I'm gonna get depressed looking at all those empty forums for the old season 8 arcs where the conversation is basically finished. It will be like looking at the empty corner in January after you've taken the Christmas tree down. I actually just opened up a bunch of Season 8 issue threads over on the new site and did exactly that: linked to the archived discussion. I'm not too worried about the old threads, tbh. How often do we ever go back and post in them? The conversation is always in the next issue and these old threads will be there to be read later on. But new conversation is what'll keep us going. Even rereading the season and going back to strike up conversation in the earlier arcs like LWH, NFFY and WatG.

It's gonna be an adjustment, Pat. I admit that I was hesitant at first, too, but I think it'll be cool. We just gotta dive in and have fun with it. As for losing old conversations, yeah the history of SA is something I'll miss. But it's on Archive. Basically, I look at it like Dead Threads from a few years ago. We get to start fresh. I've been thinking for all the comics threads that I might do a reread and post new reviews there. New content, new perspective after so much time has gone by. That's a good thing.

If everyone chooses new names, I'm really not going to remember who some of y'all are. Seriously. I get how name-changing is fun (that was an old game in the cbox for a while), but when you do it more often than Prince, I basically lose all context for how I know you.

Maybe you could draw your favorite panels on your chest and abs...
But that seems like such a waste.
(Haha yeah, I'm probably having more fun joking about this. Ahem. Everyone remember to act like grown-ups.)

Basically. But it's more classy when I let people work out the naughty implications on their own. Innuendo. I haz it.

I'm getting quite excited, oh shirtless wonder!
And I love the idea of you making announcements via video. It's wonderful! (Though I think an accompanying bulletpoint outline would be nifty too. 'Cause I like reading... /nerd)

I'm okay with capslock when it's used properly. Someone just writing in all caps doesn't understand how punctuation/grammar is used to proper effect. But I'd also be very happy winning the BEST USE OF A PARENTHETICAL award.
Aaaaaaand this has nothing to do with Season 8.
So I'll throw out there that I'm really interested in what happens to Willow next. I've been speculating that her injuries may lead to her being in a wheelchair and trying to recover magic not only to fix the world, but to fix herself.
Icarus flew too high on stolen wings and fell to Earth. Boom. CRASH.
Willow's story just became even more fascinating to me now with the end of magic. And it doesn't matter that we know where she'll end up as Future Dark Willow. It's about the journey.

I'M GUNNING FOR THE BEST CAPSLOCKER AWARD.
(It's like poplocking, only grammatical.)

Well clearly.
We're so spamming it up in here. I'm feeling modly guilt.
Eh, I'm over it. Thankfully modly guilt is less potent than Catholic or Jewish guilt. Oy vey! ;D

I dunno, but I feel old. You know, I think actually that both E's became the negligent ones which is funny 'cause we were like the most rabid at one time, too. Now E's at school and I'm IDEK.
But I truly think I'm gonna make a comeback. Haha, get ready! New Forum, New Emmie!
(I'm gonna need to remind myself that we're PG13. I blame you, Xi. You always make me wanna talk dirty.)

Haha, you're the bitchy Mom while I'm the negligent Dad. You know, 'cause I haven't been around as much recently. My poor babies. Abandonment issues. What have I done to you all? Answer: No1curr.

We have gotten lax in our scandalous material (less sexaaaay), but all a good story needs is a villain. I nominate Scott. Hell, if I were feeling outrageous enough I'd write it about the SA haters, (the enemies of Scott Allie and SlayAlive). Take it global, baby. I probably shouldn't be talking about this. Bad Emmie. Bad. Very, very bad.

Also, I vote Em for the whip. I'm more proficient with my scythe when it comes to tough love... ...but I'm always up for a challenge! And a calendar would be a good fundraising (or fun-raising ) project. Haha, I'd offer my writing skills for a raffle, but that's illegal. Or is it? (Yes, it is.) Though I guess it'd be kosher a la Mods on High. Nobody would want that, though! So it's back to square one with naked!Phil. Wait, when did this disturbing trend of selling ourselves take over? Xi, you've brought forth the fall of Rome.

Hey, Wyn's quite studly. And Xi... *whistles*
Are we pushing for a SlayAlive moderators calendar now?
Do I get to be the HBIC?
Oh wait, no that's Phil.

No more Hellmouths, unfortunately. So, I've kinda been wondering about destroying the Seed vs. removing it. In both instances, it's essentially gone. However, removing it causes the world to die, whereas destroying it merely cuts off all magic. Anyone care to give this some thoughtful fanwank, or even textual explanation? As far as we know, Aluwyn's comparison to a cork in a bottle is true. Take the cork out, and the wine will be drunk, or spill, or just evaporate. Break off the cork in the neck of the bottle and the wine remains intact, but you can't get to it. Hmm. I guess in a figurative sense yeah the cork is stuck. But taken literally (which I imagine it's not meant to be), one can always cut through the glass to get to the wine.

Urkonn also says of the Slayers, "the line continued... there were girls with the power, but they were never called, never trained." This doesn't square with what we've been shown in season 8, where the magic to call new Slayers no longer exists. Urkonn himself said that "all magicks" were banished from this dimension in the apocalypse, which would mean no new Slayers. I think it's a bit unclear what it means to be Called, to be Chosen. Perhaps it's more that the mystical connection, the chain, is broken. So the mystical essence of being Called to a greater purpose is lost. Power without mystical purpose. But it's unclear how this occurs in a practical sense. Or it's simply that the Chosen spell wasn't creating power, but rather removing the Shadowmen's magic, unlocking their limiting spell. So now every Potential will become a Slayer when she's ready. It's not something that magically snaps when she's at the right age. It's inside her and she activates her own power herself. In that instance, no magic is needed for the Slayer line to continue. Because the magic exists in the individual, it's not sustained by magic or awakened by magic; it's bonded to a life force. If you can be born with Potential, then you will eventually become a Slayer. It's a magic that is self-perpetuating because of the cycle of life. There was a panel showing a woman's arm disappearing into a portal, with the implication being that it was the Slayer's (Buffy's). But that hasn't happened yet in season 8. I'm wondering if it'll happen in #40. And there's no explanation as to why or how the demons and vampires (and Slayers) returned in Fray's time. The native demons and vampires never leave our world, so they never have to return. They apparently dwindle in numbers, but they persist and eventually are known as lurks. The demons in Fray's time are trying to reopen the gateways to let the banished demons return or even let demons in other dimensions come to conquer Earth. One thing though is that magic does still exist in a diminished capacity in the world during Fray's time. Otherwise Willow wouldn't be able to create spells and Harth wouldn't have been turned into a vampire. I don't think we really know what it means for the Seed of Wonder to be destroyed. Perhaps the remnants of magic live on for centuries the way a dying star's light exists for millions of years after the source of its light has been extinguished. I'm theorizing that it's Willow who goes through that portal at some point, to a world (Aluwyn's?) where she can get her magic back. Then, after a couple hundred years (which may be a much shorter time from her perspective), she returns to this world with a new Seed and a new Scythe, and the magic and demons and Slayers return with her. Yeah, it does seem to me like Willow is being set on a mission to restore magic to the world. Though I'm not sure we're going to be getting a new Seed per se. Personally, I'm interested in seeing the story go forward without magic and the Seed of Wonder.

Awww, Mooney! You didn't need to change anything!
But I have to say I do love the more delicate lines for her shoulders now especially and the proportions for her bodice/chest (I particularly like how you creatively made the layer underneath the bodice seem billowy like it's slightly too big).
You're a class act, sir.
I get so used to fixating on the negative space when it comes to comics art that I didn't comment on what I enjoyed. So I'll add that I think you've perfectly captured Willow's unique eye expression (the shape especially is very, very Willow! Probably the best I've seen of her, in fact). More importantly, she's emoting in a very Willow fashion. It feels like Willow.

Not only is it too soon and in poor taste, but it will never be acceptable on this forum.
Offensive graphics mocking a character's death or any other violent acts (e.g. rape) will be deleted.
