Maybe the star could be an 'Angel', over the 'Dawn'/'Twilight'? also the 'half sun' could look like energy rising? (the key)

is it safe to assume that twilights costume protects him from the sunlight? or do you think it's magic that's protected him? i know there have been times where he's been in the sun, maybe not the brightest times of day, but still, he's been in direct sunlight.

It was shown a few times in both Buffy and Angel that simple clothing doesn't offer complete protection, but his costume seems to have multiple layers, some that look like they may be amour. On the other hand, from what we've seen of Twilight's powers, I doubt he'd have any problem protecting himself regardless of what clothes he's wearing. Wait... What thread is this? How'd we get on this subject?

I'm not sure about the part about being with Buffy. He and his army have killed Slayers, even when they didn't have their powers.

I don’t think it would be something as complex or logical as we expect. Maybe it has a meaning, but it would be simple or will be connected to a fictional mythology. I think it just represents the twilight of magic or something like that.

At this point, my only idea is that it represents an opening portal.
While that might be relevant to the plot, I don't see why it would be suitable as an insignia, however.
