I started watching when it first aired. So I was about 6 or 7 years old. I turned out fine (arguably).

Buffy has many positive things that I think everyone should be exposed to and there are very few questionable things. How bad the "questionable" things may be all depends on the child. I guess you should just decide what you think based on your granddaughter and, make it easier on you, ask her parents. They may say they do or don't want her to watch it and they can make the decision for you.

I will decide on a couple of really tame episodes to show her and wait until she is older to let her watch all of them. She inherits my Buffy Collection as she shows a lot of interest in the figures and other collectibles. One thing I wanted to learn in this thread is how those who watched it at a young age - younger than I would have thought appropriate - and how they now feel about that. I always remember that you 'cannot unsee what you have seen'. But I also recognize that some of our Buffy members have not had or are not leading the most wonderful of lives and it is my hope that Buffy has helped them through the tough times. I will leave the poll open to see how the comments go.

I voted 14. That's when I started watching the show. It has a lot of things that I don't think would be fully understood at a younger age and some stuff that I wouldn't want my kid watching younger than 14 (well if I had a kid which I don't)
