I kinda liked Dez in "Aftermath". I was wondering if she has made any appearances since Armstrong finished her run on Angel.

Oh so Willingham's run actually takes off from Armstrong's? I didn't expect that. I figured that Aftermath was disregarded completely.

He hasn't made any specific linkages yet from Aftermath other than they are there. Like he hasn't said why they've just sort of blended into the team. Same with no links to Only human but Gunn and Illyria are just sort of...back lol

I don't really care that she is back but I am happy that James is.

I like James too. i hope at some point during WIllingham's run he maybe does an Arc where he explores eachs character individually in seperate issues.

That is actually something I don't like about the new series. Willingham has kept the characters from previous arcs, but he has so far neglected to write in any references to the why the characters are there together and in fact he has barely even acknowledged their presence. I'm sorry but a few throw away lines and shots of them in background does not make them a worthy part of the story. So far the additions of Dez and James to the team has only left the series feeling overcrowded and stretched thin. The way I figure it, if Willingham isn't going to use them in the main part of the story then he might as well write them out, if only for this arc, and focus on a smaller set of characters.

She may still be in the next issue if there's any mention of her.

It just occurred to me that Dez's death didn't really make sense. Presumably she died because Liss ate her soul, right? But we've seen before that people can survive without souls, they just lose their conscience. So what exactly killed her?
Ah well, probably the least of the problems with Willingham's run.

Have we ever seen a human or non-vampire lose their soul though? I kind of assumed that the ability to lose and gain a soul all willy nilly only applies to Vamps.

Too bad. She was my favorite of the new characters from the post-AtF series, and really the only one I'd like to have seen picked up for the Dark Horse run.

Buffy lost most of her soul in "Living Conditions" without any (physical) ill-effect. I also always assumed that Ryan Anderson, the Michael Myers kid in "I've Got You Under My Skin", was just a human without a soul. Too bad. She was my favorite of the new characters from the post-AtF series, and really the only one I'd like to have seen picked up for the Dark Horse run. Have you followed Willingham's run? I really like Laura Weathermill, and hope she becomes an AI mainstay (she kind of fills Cordy and Wes' previous roles as bitch/smart guy). Since she's an IDW original character, I'm not sure if DH will be allowed to use her. Same with George, Beck, etc.

Dez is a magical non-human, so losing her soul may affect her differently. I am kind of surprised that she doesn't revert to her true form when she's killed. It looked like she started to while she was being drained, but maybe she was just reflexively trying to change into cat-form to defend herself. I have followed Willingham's run, though I haven't liked much of anything about it, despite being a fan of his other work. I dunno... any character can be made to work in the hands of a skilled writer and artist. All of the characters introduced in the Angel and Spike comics for IDW belong to Fox, as do all the characters in the season 8 comics. Whether they get used in the DH comics would probably depend on Joss's preference and on how IDW feels about it (as a matter of courtesy). I'm guessing if Joss chooses to bring any characters over, it would only be Brian's characters (George, maybe Beck since she's going to be part of the canonical Spike series), and then only if Brian will be writing them. I don't even want to think about the the canon headaches that would ensue if people like Laura Weathermill or Mr. Polyphemus got ported over to the DH series. Although I think it would be interesting to give two floors of the Hyperion over to Connor's harem of warrior-chicks and Spike's harem of warrior-chicks. It would be like St. Trinian's, but with slightly heavier weaponry.

An in-depth conversation about Dez? SWEET!
I think the reason Dez died right away is because Liss drained her complete life force all at once. Whereas with Hubble, she may have left just enough life for him to be a zombie-slave.
