I wonder if this: Is Messina's cover for #28? It was never said what exactly the image was, so it could be just Eddie Hope concept art, or a cover. Whatever it is, I still can't get over how badass Eddie looks.

My ideal permanent Team Angel would be Angel, Gunn, Connor, Illyria and Kate, with Gwen, Nina and Lorne appearing every once in a while. Although considering Andy's death, I would be fine if Lorne settled down somewhere and was happy. I don't think Gwen works well with the team, she never did in the TV show or comics and that’s the same with Nina and Kate and I think it is a copout having them in the comic book as part of the team or having them as just eye candy or replacements for Wesley, Fred and Cordelia. ‘After the fall’ had it right. Gwen betray= team, Nina= small role and Kate=cameo role. I would love it if they focus on the center character. Angel, Connor, Gunn and Illyria and retire Lorne somewhere, but that is just me.

I wouldn't mind Kate being a main. She was gone for so long, I think it would be good to keep her around for a little while. I only wish that she gets a go intro to the team this time around. :/

Can't wait for this. It's been months since we've seen Angel (of course, I'm not including Aftermath) and I wanna see what the team's been up to

Here are 2 pages from #28. I wont post the pages here cos there are big spoilers for characters involved in the story - but I am very happy with the look of it. Characters actually looking like themselves!!!! Aftermath will be a distant memory methinks! ryalltime.blogspot.com/2009/09/denham-and-leather.html

Pretty awesome, tht art is so great!. Except is that Dez and James? Words cannot describe how much I hate that. Like... it's a lot of hate. Hopefully there is just exposition on that page and then they are gone for good. But yay for Kate, Gunn, George, Illyria and Spike! Nice to see the Hyperion again too.

I know what you mean hitnrun017 but what's been done has been done in regards to story. Is it better to ignore those aspects fans don't like (which would be very lazy) or to use what has come before and make it better?

I guess that's true. Even though I wouldn't complain if the whole thing was ignored, I'll hope that Bill Willingham can improve upon it. That story was just so bad and ridiculous, I don't see how it can be made better though.
I'll just wait and see how it plays out.

I hold Daredevil #500 up as a proud example of this.

Even though I wouldn't complain if the whole thing was ignored, I'll hope that Bill Willingham can improve upon it. That's how I feel as well. Not a fan of James and Dez at all, but if Willingham wants to use them, then he obviously thinks he can make them beneficial to the story. I'm really loving each preview page we get. Denham's style is really as is the coloring. It's nice to see Quor'toth for the first time as well. It's great to see the Hyperion again! Here are all of the preview pages released so far, and according to their image tags, they are pages 1, 3 and 11:

James and (especially) Dez are two of the things about Aftermath I didn't have a problem with, actually. They can be good characters if they're written well.

I'm just hoping Gwen won't be the pathetic OOC annoyance she was in Aftermath.

I find it strange how some people argue that post-AtF Angel is still the 100% canon official story, but then complain because a story they don't like is acknowledged. Canon or not, I'm glad continuity is being maintained between stories.
IDW made it's bed with Aftermath and I'm glad to see they're not ignoring it. Dez and James are perfectly good characters and have a lot of potential. I wonder why they're back at the Hyperion though, I'd be happier if they continued using the new church base.
That artwork is okay, nothing special. The characters look like themselves though, which is an improvement. Unfortunately, George seems to be one of those characters artists struggle with.

Maybe it's a montage page, wherein someone is talking ABOUT all the characters but they're not together. Not sure, haven't read it, but it could be.

Willing to bet that most comic book artists don't have to draw shimmering telepathic fish most of the time. The artwork looks good, though I still think Messina has the best take on the Angel universe so far. The colors are really good. Can't wait to read!

The art is a major improvement from "Aftermath", I'll give it that. However, I find it all too generic, and more than a little forgettable. There is no personal style, no quirk, no trademark at all... none that I can see anyway. Likenesses are fine, and everything looks competent... but it doesn't do anything for me. Also... I'm on the fence about whether or not I'm going to continue with the ANGEL franchise. I gave up on "Aftermath", bought the Epilogue issue, and the first Dru one. Still need to go pick up the second Dru book, but I think I'll wait till Oct 7, when I go pick up S8 #29...
I'm happy enough to being where "AtF" #17 left us...

Ugh, ew, Dez is back. :/
The art looks really good! I hope the stroy turns out good, unlike Aftermath.
And George?! I wasn't expecting to see him!
