In his most recent interview he talked about how he liked writing the oneshots because they connected the writers to each other, in essence setting up the story for the next writer. What he might not realize is that when he turns over the wheel completely, the writers drive off the track and his "oneshots" are necessary to bring it back to his vision again. I completley agree. I was actually thinking about this myself about and hour ago whilst on my re-read of S8. The other writers though are good in there own unique ways they have a different view on certain charatcers and I feel they definatley need Joss to bring them all back to the orignial story and his own vision of Season 8. Its like he says "right heres my plan for this arc go write it and add in your own thoughts and ideas" he then sees it and goes "meh" you should have done this instead of this etc. . . so he does the one shots to bring the story back into line. Does any of that even make sense ha ha??

Three preview clips added to the first post. It's easy to resist these ones.

Hmmm... Adelle is SO hot when she's pissed. And this ep looks to be a bloody good finale. Fingers crossed.

TV Guide has a minor spoiler-ish REVIEW of tonight's ep. Nothing major... just a mention of a few things we've either previously glimpsed, or come to expect from a Joss' show.

I hope people remember this is on at 8 tonight, and not 9 as usual.
I just know some people are going to tune it at 9 hoping to watch the show, and get Kitchen Nightmares instead.
It's a pretty lousy trick to change the time of a series finale.

Yeah, I imagine there's going to be a pretty big handful of disappointed fans. It's not really fair.

What's the reason for the time change?

It's the end of a bloody era. Dammit... I missed the cancellation of previous Whedon shows (I was always behind, growing up in Malaysia), so this will be my first. Sad.

That was a fantastic finale. I'm so mad that it's all over, there is so much I want to see and know. This is the same way I felt after the finale of Angel.

i thought the ending was awesome. although i was truly upset to see it end, and Topher and Paul's death....but for a finale it was fantastic. Joss is truly amazing! ;D
although i don't appreciate fox cutting it off and not even letting us hear the rest of the song and the credits.......

Great final episode.
The usual character death quota.
This is going to inspire a cornucopia of fanfic. Mad Tony Beyond Thunderdome... Mag/Kilo femslash... how Alpha got his groove back... and, of course, the further adventures of all the surviving characters in what's sure to be a... challenging post-apocalyptic environment.
I can't wait for the DVD to come out so I can watch the whole series again straight through. And I really, really want to see where Joss goes next... as well as Eliza, Fran, Enver and Dichen.
ETA: The ending did seem kind of abrupt, cutting off the song like that. Hopefully it will be fixed on the DVD.

Okay... on an emotional level, that may have topped "Chosen" for me. Emotional, not thematic. But that was a helluva way to go... and I'm glad they went out the way they did. Classy exit. Hit all the right notes, pulled no punches... damn... gotta watch that again to fully absorb the whole thing. Topher... he was heartbreaking in this ep... having just the right amount of crazy, but juggling it so well with remorse, regret, melancholy, and tenderness. His scenes with Adelle were almost traumatizing. And Paul... gunned down the way Anya was sliced, and Derek Reese was taken out in T: SCC. That scene with Echo projecting her grief onto Priya... that was some of Eliza's best acting thus far. Bah... it's over.

I'm pretending Topher's not dead and he just got hurt. I don't want to think of him being dead. Topher was awesome. Paul's death shocked the hell out of me.

Wow. For a finale of a big story and so little time, I don't think I could've asked for anything more. That was beautiful. Sure, not everything was answered. It would've been perfect if Whiskey was there, honestly they should've just left her out of the last two episodes and saved Amy for this one, but I'm more than pleased with the closure we got.
Loved that we got a happy ending. Still depressing with the whole Topher thing, but his ending was just so perfect for his character. It was amazing to see how everyone became a family, because the lack of a bond between all the characters is something that has been missing for most of the series. Especially between Priya/Tony and Adelle and... everyone.
Expected someone to die during the shootout, but didn't expect it to be Paul. As soon as Echo had no reaction to it, I knew a breakdown was coming, and boy did Eliza deliver. That scene was perfect, and so was Paul becoming a part of Echo. It was nice seeing a different side to Alpha, and it was awesome how he left the message for Echo, sort of the same way he introduced Paul to Caroline at the beginning of the series.
Just absolutely loved this episode. I'm equal parts sad and angry that we aren't getting anymore, but this was a brilliant ending to such a short show. It accomplished a lot in the 26 episodes it had, and while it had a shaky beginning, it became a true Whedon-quality show.

Truly amazing. I totally have sad doll face right now. What an incredible show. It's really impressive that a show that only lasted 26 episodes accomplished more in that short time than shows that have been on for many seasons. I'm gonna miss this show so much.
