Can't wait for Lyfe Jenning's new album. Squee! Real R&B has been under the radar lately.

Not really a fan, but I'm actually quite curious to see what time has done to Evanescence. I've heard Amy Lee is a fan of La Roux and has incorporated more elements of eletronica into her own music. Hopefully her lyrics have grown mature and less maudlin in order to suit this new direction.

Evanescense and La Roux mixed together? That's some weirdness I'm not sure I want.

Is it really that strange? I'm assuming it's just going to sound like Portishead with strings and a piano tucked away in the back, which they've done before in songs like "Anything For You" and "Away from Me." Isn't Amy Lee a huge Bjork and Nine Inch Nails fan? La Roux doesn't strike me as too far removed.

As for the new Evanescence album, its not weird, although it may be there least successful album to date. You will find that most Evanescence arn't huge fans of some of the old Evanescence tracks which have elements of Electronica. Evanescence built a huge fan base with Fallen and lost some of it when they released The Open Door because they took a slightly different direction with there music, making less Chart successful. This album could go one of two ways depending in how much this influence contributes to the music.

Well, Fallen was released at the height of Hot Topic's faux-goth marketing with Good Charlotte and other Tim Burton-inspired rock outfits: the perfect time for an upcoming "Linkin Park meets Enya and Danny Elfman" band to find commercial success. The Open Door was released when that fad had pretty much expired, and relevance is a huge factor in regards to sales when it comes to mainstream music. At that point, Evanescence had been away for a while, much like now, and they lost some of their footing in the mainstream. "Call Me When You're Sober" did well enough, but they needed another hit. So, the deciding factor won't really be how many Fallen fans enjoy the new music, but whether or not the band can successfully break through the Gaga, Bieber, and Kesha inundated mainstream scene to have another hit record. Sadly, I do not see that happening for them. Christina Aguilera couldn't pull it off, and has received overwhelming criticism (met with underwhelming sales) for trying out this recycled overrated electropop sound of the Gaga machine, so hope for Evanescence's success is wearing thinner by the second. They've been away from the game for too long.

Quite amazed that Aguilera flopped so badly because her success has shown some legs. Evanescence will struggle for sure because they embody a fad long gone.

well, i think they are trying to develop a new style for the upcoming album...trying to come up with something so they can "fit" into this new day and still have their original concept. But i really don't think it was a fad. im still a major fan as you can see, and im pretty sure they still have a decent fanbase supporting them whether or not the album is a huge success with the rest of the world. I've seen plenty of bands continue pretty strong even if they are not on the Top 10 if you know what i mean.

It definitely goes to show how being away from the limelight can knock down even a highly successful artist. Fortunately for Christina, she has a voice that is nigh incomparable, and has already proved herself a memorable pop artist. "Beautiful" was a major hit that regardless of how Bionic fared, will almost surely stand the test of time. Still too early to tell what's going to happen to Gaga, but I hope it's another fad that will be long gone in the near future. PJ, of course there will be a place for them somewhere. Amy Lee is a very talented musician, but considering the album has already been set back due to Wind-Up Records' financial woes, Evanescence, as one of the company's biggest acts, is going to be expected to bring in the profits.
