Feeling a little Depressed today

It's been exactly 3 years since my grandpa L.C. died. He wasn't my real grandfather, just by marriage, but he was a grandpa to me. I miss him so much. He died the exact same day as my fiance's father. So we are both depressed. Tomorrow is my 20th birthday, and that's something that should help me cheer up, but I kinda just want to cry.

I'm really sorry to hear that. I know how it is to lose a family member, all of my grandparents died in the same year.

I hope you and your Dad will be ok. It does get easier over time.

Holidays/b-days after you lose someone you love aren't easy.

I lost my grandpa shortly before my 21st b-day (four years ago). We had a lot planned for that day which unfortunately didn't get to happen.

I hope you find a way to feel better.

So I'm depressed again. I broke up with my fiance, that I've been with for 2 and a half years. I feel horrible. I know I hurt him, and that kills me. And I'm lonely. This is the first night I've been alone that I know it's not gonna change tomorrow night. Now I'm gonna be alone every night I've cried so much tonight....

So sorry to hear this Sarah No wonder you feel depressed and lonely. Is there no chance of you sorting things out with your fiance? I know you feel upset that you hurt him, but would you have hurt him more by staying with him and being unhappy? It may be awful now but sometimes these things need to happen. As much as we hate to hurt others, sometimes we need to just think of ourselves and how we feel and how we want to live our lives.

I broke up with my fiance two years ago. We met at University and were together about four years when I ended it. It broke my heart as I just couldn't imagine life without him, and knew he couldn't imagine life without me, but things just didn't seem to be working and we had grown apart and I thought it was the best thing to do at the time before we ended up hating each other.

Needless to say I never got over him, and he never got over me, and 18 months later we ended up back together, hopefully forever this time. We both spent time apart learning about ourselves and where we had gone wrong in the relationship, and we both needed that time to grow up properly and really realise and understand what was important to us and learn to like ourselves again, as much as we liked each other. We have both grown so much and really appreciate the love we have and are getting on better than ever. I feel blessed every day to have him back in my life and to have been given a second chance.

On the other side, my best friend broke up with her fiance of ten years two years ago. He has now got a baby with someone else and is getting married, and she has never looked back and says the best thing she ever did was finish it with him and she has enjoyed her life more since being away from him than she ever did with him. He isn't a bad person, they just weren't right together.

It goes to show that whether you get a second chance to see if things can be made right, or if you know it was the right thing to do and move on with your life growing stronger and happier each day, it will be the right thing for you and you will be stronger for it and realise what you want in life.

I know this won't comfort you, but you were brave. It must have been hard, breaking up with someone who had been part of your life for so long.

Thanks for the support guys. I appreciate it. It's hard right now, but I know it's gonna be for the best. It's gonna be a while before I get back to being happy, but I'm trying to move on.

This week is the worst week of my life. And no, I'm not being emo.
Today, while I was in the shower, my apartment complex caught on fire. So I had to run outside in only a towel. I didn't even have shoes on. I was freaked out. It's one of my worst fears to be caught in a fire.
