Any chance you plan on selling Cirque du slay as a litho? Or could post a bigger version of it so I could have it made into a poster that would look so good on my wall?

As much as I would love to, I think that it would probably violate some copyrights to do so. Wish that I could though!

Okay I assumed it was okay, since I've seen unofficial original art Buffy prints being sold.

Added to the first post. Since I sorta made my last artwork for Jeanty, I thought I'd whip up something for Brian Lynch. Kingyo-sukui is Japanese for goldfish scooping, which is an activity at many fairs and festivals where children can catch goldfish to keep as pets. I got the idea in my head of Spike, Beck, and Betta George go to visit Tok in Japan, and they all get dressed up in fancy kimonos to go to a summer festival. I imagined that Tok's little sister Kaori might try her hand at kingyo-sukui, but that would probably make George a little sad, so they decide to let the little fish free in a pond... and then it turns out that what they thought was a plain old goldfish was actually a sparkly teeny baby Splendeen demon! I'm calling him Betta Kin. I'm totally writing fic to go with this... and just to note, this is the first time I've drawn Spike in a men's kimono. Normally I draw him in a furisode. XD (Click thumbnail for full-sized.)

That might be the most beautiful fanart I have ever seen.
Please consider making it into a comic, or just add more illustrations to that fic.

Thank you so much! I might add a few more illustrations in a ukiyo-e print style. That could be fun.

I got my prize from Georges Jeanty today! There is something nice about being able to hold a piece of artwork in one's hands, to get a sense of how another draws. I'll have to go get it archive-quality framed at Hobby Lobby.

WOW! That is SO beautiful and you absolutely deserve it fenderlove. Thank you for sharing with us, and congratulations again.
I'm also in awe of the piece you did for Brian Lynch. The colors and the detailing on all the kimonos are so on point. I feel transported. And this might be the first time I've seen Spike in a men's kimono. (There should definitely be more!) Is it weird that his kimono kind of reminds me of his leather duster?

^^ It's black, (maybe?) shiny and has folds. It reminds me of his coat too.
I would really love to read how he was convinced to wear that. I imagine that he was reluctant. Maybe Tok's little sis pouted in a adorable way until he gave in?

And this might be the first time I've seen Spike in a men's kimono. (There should definitely be more!) Is it weird that his kimono kind of reminds me of his leather duster? I did actually put a little extra shine in the fabric so it would mimic the shine that would be on leather. I've drawn him twice before in kimonos, both times were of the furisode variety (for young unmarried women) because they tend to be more elaborate and detailed in their patterns. Actually, my first digital painting I ever tried to do was a kimono pic! *digs through files* This was my first completed digital painting from 2008 when I was still learning how to blend and do everything really (and I was in this overdeveloped pectoral phase which I hope I've gotten out of. LOL). I would really love to read how he was convinced to wear that. I imagine that he was reluctant. Maybe Tok's little sis pouted in a adorable way until he gave in? Oh, definitely! I can imagine Kaori pouting and calling to Tok "お姉ちゃん, スパイク-さんが きものをちゃくよいません!" ("Oneechan, Supaiku-san ga kimono o chakuyoimasen!", or "Big Sister, Spike will not wear his kimono!"), and Tok would have to force him to wear it. My Japanese might be a bit rusty; I had four years of it in college. XD Actually, I might have to write this as fanfic after all. Haha! Thanks, everyone, for your kind words! I really do appreciate them! ;D

Thanks for the compliments, everyone! You guys are all so nice! I've found that I really enjoy doing large BtVS/Ats multi-character portraits; it allows for a lot of different poses and costuming as well as symbolism and metaphor (also gives me practice drawing a lot of different types of faces), and I recently go an idea for a new one, so expect an art update in a week or so if I can get the ball rolling. Here's a little hint about the subject of this piece will be: When the other shoe drops, think to a horse of a different colour.

I made a new banner for a novel length fanfic I wrote a year and a half ago. It's set in steampunk alternate reality, so enjoy a little Victoriana Spike and Fred. Spike kinda looks like an airship captain, which sorta fits with S8. I feel so precognitive. (Click the thumbnail for the full-sized version.)
