Ohhh, by "bring-backsies", you meant back from the dead... I thought you meant bringing back characters in general. Sorry. I meant from the dead. I'm against people being brought back from the dead, but the other kind of back-sies can get tiresome too. It just seems like no one stays dead anymore. Of course, one has to take into consideration that I still count Buffy & Angel to be the same story, so I count the back-sies from both series. I've read some spoilers of what's going to happen in issue 16 & 17 of Angel, with lots of bring-backsies, so I'm a bit afraid, but Lynch has written well so far, so I don't think there's much reason to worry.

I don't mind resurrections. It depends on the circumstances... at the end of the day this is a fictional universe where magic and resurrections are possible. Villains are usually fair game in my eyes so I didn't mind Warren coming back. When hero character suffer permanent deaths, I'm usually against it. Buffy's was perfectly handled and totally earned, so that was cool. Angel and Spike's were more cheap, but the subsequent storylines made it worth it. I think so long as you have some characters stay dead, death still means something. For example, Joyce and Tara both died very human, mundane deaths (by Buffyverse standards). To resurrect them would be a terrible move, IMO, their deaths are sacred. I like the Buffyverse's stance that mystical deaths ar reversable, but natural deaths are permanent. You don't have to worry about the resurrections in AtF. Yes, there are a lot of them, but it was planned in advance (so no retcons) and it's handled very well. Trust me, #16 and 17 are some of the best Buffyverse comics you'll read.

I agree with everything you said, except that I would love to see Tara return. Since Joss wanted to return Tara to Willow in season 7, I'm not so sure his stance is that non-supernatural deaths are permanent.
Also agree about the Angel comics. They rocked.

The "bring back Tara" debate will rage on until the end of time, but IMO, Joss' plan for how to bring her back in season seven was rather flimsy and cheap. Yes, Buffy choosing Tara for Willow's sake would have been beautiful, but the idea that she could be wished back to life with none of the emotional consequences that Buffy had to face in season six was just too neat and convenient. There's the question of, if Buffy knows the peace of heaven and how awful it was to be ripped out, why would she do that to another person that she cares about? Especially Tara, who respected the natural order more than anybody. Would Tara really want to come back? Willow's struggle to overcome her guilt and move on with Kennedy was a much stronger and more relevant storyline, so I'm glad Joss' original plans fell through. Sorry for the random Tara tangent but I wanted to get that out of my system. So, howsabout that Spike hardcover, huh? Pretty nifty.

Yes, the cover. Oh look, we're in a hardcover thread, I forgot. lol
I do like this cover. It took me a while to appreciate it, because Spike looks so old and worn, but now I'm used to it. I like the pose, the likeness is good enough and it doesn't give me that creepy Hugh Heefner feeling like Urro's cover does(it's pretty, but feels wrong).
I do believe that a cover from Spike after the fall would have been more fitting tough. Not because of the art, but because it's a different stand alone-ish series. But this cover beats a lot of the Spike ATF covers, so it could be worse.

Yeah totally agree. I WANT a Spike: Asylum HC, honestly I wasn't that big a fan of Shadow Puppets. It was a good read but I preffered Asylum. I'd definatley still pick it up though in HC. Or if it was added in a mini Spike Trade HC edition. Brain if you read this are there any plans for one, or hope that maybe eventually??

I really don't think it will be re-released on it's own. I asked for a ASYLUM/SHADOW PUPPETS collected hardcover, but IDW didn't want to do it.
I think they're doing a hardcover collecting ANGEL:SMILE TIME and SHADOW PUPPETS, which I guess they think more people want.
My guess is, ASYLUM won't show up again until it's collected in an Omnibus.

I got my HC a few days ago, and it's beautiful as usual. Once again, the cover couldn't be better. And Spike is sooooo sexy in these issues !

I still haven't found a copy of this yet, I hope Barnes & Nobles or Books-A-Million get some in soon, as my comic shop is worthless in getting TPB/HC's.

Got a great deal on Amazon for this and the 3rd AtF HC, less than $20 each. This finally arrived yesterday and I love how it turned out. The cover looks awesome and the gold foil title really stands out. Haven't read the notes from Brian yet, but the extra sketches from Franco are really cool.

I've already got the comics (as I'm sure most of you have but still) so I was wondering are people getting the HC because it's a pretty, collector's type item or because it has extras at the end like in the Atf HCs?

I'm collecting all comics, HC, singles, tradepaperbacks, annuals, you name it, but even if I wasn't, I would have gotten it for the extras and because I think that one day I might need to replace the singles(I expect to be reading them a lot, so they might get ripped or something).
It's not as much a collectable item compared to singles anyway. It seems like it's the single issues of comics that can be worth big money one day.

Ok I'm totally going to buy it You're right it's just great that so much Buffy/Angel stuff is being produced we should make the msot of it and take whatever we're offered Plus it means I can still read the Spike atf series while my friends are borrowing the comics from me (I keep telling them to get their own but they never listen, and Rebecca has had my Angel Atf volume 1 HC for over a year now!)
