I am really enjoying Spike ATF. Spike is written very well, and I like all of the new characters.
The only downside is the brown colouring, although I thought issue 2 was coloured better than 1.
I also hope Jeremy is ok, but since this is Buffy/Angel he is probably not ok.

Can anybody pleease tell all comic artists that blurring is a total no-go? I really like Franco's art, but the blurred truck just makes my eyes hurt. Just that almost everybody does it doesn't make it look good.
I just read Wolverine #67 (which is great BTW) and there's a great blurred background that perfectly fits the rest of the art, so why isn't anyone else capable of doing it?
I liked the issue, I really did.

Hey guys! This is my first non-intro post on SlayAlive so be gentle (please?) ^_^
I just got my copy of issue #2 in the mail yesterday and enjoyed it. Not as much as everyone else apparently, as I felt pretty confused about different things. I didn't immediately realize the yellow guy at the top of the tower was Angel. How did you all know that? I am not reading "Angel: After the Fall" - do we need to be reading them both in sync to get references like that? I'd been avoiding reading "Angel: After the Fall" because I am *just now* watching Angel the Series for the first time, and I'm only at the end of Season 2, so I wanted to try to avoid any huge spoilers as much as possible.
I obviously also didn't realize the little Spider girl was a recurring character, although I thought she was neat.
My favourite bits of this issue were Spike's inner monologue when considering how to fight the dragon (I have to say they are writing Spike REALLY well in this book), and of course the last few pages that packed a nice emotional punch as well as some great art.
Not to rain on anyone's parade though, but I got the cover of Spike walking through the doorway and I have to say I really, really disliked it. My roommate and I immediately questioned why his pants fly was up above his bellybutton. Sure, Spike wore his pants high on the show but not Steve Urkel high! Also I couldn't tell if it was on purpose, but didn't it seem like the colorist forgot to color in Spike's head and hands? He looked transparent. Was there a reason for that? And why was there a painting of Spike on his motorcycle next to the door? Such a bizarre cover, IMHO.

Welcome!
The identity of the yellow guy (i refer to him as electrified street fighter 2 man) is still a mystery. Brian Lynch tells us that it should be obvious who it is. That really only leaves Angel, as the Dragon seems really concerned for this person's well being and is the only character in Angel: After The Fall that it seems to have really taken a liking to.
Spike on his motorcycle is a nod to the first grind house cover from issue number 1.
The cool thing about Spike: After The Fall is that you don't have to read Angel: After The Fall to follow it. It might be helpful to grab Angel: After The Fall issues 6-9 because they are called First Night and take place on the night after everything goes to hell. But since you haven't even finished Angel: The Series yet, I guess that wouldn't really make sense either. My advice is to wait on reading Angel: After The Fall and even Spike: After The Fall until you have completed the series. You're probably going to be in the dark unless you do.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, I've been debating that as well. The subscription was a birthday present from a relative that knew I am a really big Spike fan, but not that reading the comics would have spoilers It's just SO HARD not to read them, ha! But I've definitely considered just tucking them away until after I finish Angel, since a lot of stuff is somewhat lost on me until I have the whole scoop. B..b..but.... pretty pictures

uh, these comics are loaded with major spoilers... fred and illyria come to mind--which is a prerequisite viewing even before spike: after the fall. being that you're only at the end of ats season 2... you really need to see more about fred. as far as the hell-A thing--not fade away. if you want to read the comics... i say, quickly go through seasons 3-5 in a marathon. in fact, season 4 works best when viewed marathon-style. you can get through a season in 2 days if you are into marathons (i actually once watched the entirety of season 2 btvs in one day--but i'm weird). then you won't be left in the dark. also, season 4 ats should answer a lot of questions about season 7 btvs (including willow's trip to L.A., why willow came back with faith, faith talking about her mind-meld with angel, the call from "fred", the amulet, spike's trek to ats, etc...). ditto wtih spike and drusilla talking about darla in crush. seriously... ats is wonderful. in fact, i prefer it to btvs. hold off on the comics, though. please finish ats first.
