Brian, I've said that you're my favorite person in the whole wide world, right? ;D Thank you so much for doing this. I've been dieing for some SPIKE news ever since it was announced. My question is: You stated that you had a 'main cast' chosen for series already. I take it Beck and Betta George are apart of that 'cast', but are there any other characters, that haven't been mentioned of yet, that are apart of that same 'cast'? Feel free to give some specific names, buddy. ...Or not; Whatever floats your boat. Beck and George are in it, yes. As for who else...well, there's a lead that isn't introduced in the first issue, but will serve as a surprise in issue 2. This character is from the TV show, not the comics. Maybe I can get you to elaborate on this clue... Is the mystery lead a character from the "Angel" TV show who has yet to appear in "Angel" comics?

This person has bee in the ANGEL comics. I'm kinda hoping for Groo. He's amazing, and needs a nice home.

Okay, let's say Groo then. You're just saying that. So IDW has been doing side-stories with Angel (such as Barbary Coast, Only Human, etc.) and we've got one for Spike called The Devil You Know that is related somewhat to Willingham's current arc. Do you think you or some other writers will be doing things like this for Spike as well? Maybe digging into Spike's past as a vampire and uncovering some neat stories to tell? Or do you think that's spreading the Spike title too thin too early?

I have no idea, to be honest. I hope so. And I want Tipton in on some ANGEL related goodness.

Will there be any more fall-out from the Last Angel in Hell movie for our heroes in the upcoming series? I always figured that Spike and Angel might file a lawsuit, kinda like how Randal tried to get Dante to help him sue Highlights for Children in Clerks (Goofus and Gallant did kinda co-opt their lives for publication). And will Spike ever that autograph from the actress who played Femme!Spike?

There is a little bit of a fallout from LAST ANGEL IN HELL. Not a ton, but it's there. You'll see, it happens pretty early on.

Is there any character that you would really have liked to use in this series but weren't able to?

What would you say is the hardest aspect of writing characters that were already established on a television show? Or is it just kind of the nature of comic-writing in that a lot of the time one is writing characters that someone else has written first? Do you think that fan expectations are a little different with a television fandom like BtVS and Angel than with a comic fandom like Superman or X-Men?

Is there any character that you would really have liked to use in this series but weren't able to? Not really. Maybe Lorne and Wesley. Not that I had plans, or I was told not to, it just seemed too soon.

Since your series will take place before the "Twilight" arc (possibly pre-S8, for that matter), do you feel like you're limited by where the story can go? Also, on that same note, were you given an approximate timeline so that your story will presumably not contradict the main events of S8?

As long as Spike doesn't lose an arm or something, I'm fine.

Has Joss outlined a rough timeline to ensure that things will match up, or is that a bridge left to cross?

Thanks for all your time Brian. I was just wondering if there are significant new characters and if so which one is your favourite to write?

Is there any role for Wolfram & Hart to play in your ongoing story? Their status is kind of uncertain after the events of AtF.
Also, while I know we're never going to see the Senior Partners in the flesh, how do you personally imagine them looking? Illyria-style Cthulhu demons? Standard horns-and-teeth demons? Guys in suits?

Hi Brian I Love everything you've done for Angel and Spike at IDW! Sorry in advance for this not strictly being about the new Spike series, which I cannot wait for by the way, but I thought it would be an interesting question. I was wondering what happened, or what would you say happened to Spike during the events of Angel: Aftermath and Angel: Only Human, after ATF but before Boys and their Toys? I'm not sure if anyone has ever said anything about it. I was thinking though, could be a nice placement for Shadow Puppets (also thinking that it could still work with Asylum being just before the fall and because it rewound it could explain people mentioning the events of Asylum as being recent (obviously they were'nt in L.A. at exact the time and don't remeber the fall) Would also be nice as an adventure for Lorne post ATF but before Music of the Spheres What do you think?

In Shadow Puppets, Spike imagines Wesley (alive) laughing with the others at Spike's death. Had to be pre-NFA.

Mr. Lynch, I’ve just read Buffy Season 8 is coming out on motion comics. When I’ve read Spike: Asylum and Shadow Puppets for first time (that was about 3 years ago) I loved your stories so much and I wanted so badly to see these comics in a movie or mini-tv series, even I made a trailer for it. I know seeing Spike-movie or tv show is just a dream, but maybe it would be possible to see Spike-animated series based on your comics and voiced by James Marsters. What do you think about?
