I don't think we have to worry about the canon-deal unless Joss or someone he appoints (like Brian) writes a story, contradicting what happens in Asylum and Shadow Puppets.
Although I hope that won't happen because then I have to re-do the image I have as Spike as a character and try to figure out what to believe.
And henz, which stories do you mean?

It's a shame people aren't talking about whether or not the stories are good, instead they're talking about whether or not they are canon. Sigh.

I've been pondering buying the other Lynch stories before but they're not hardcover are they? Nah, they're not hardcover. And as a fellow hardcover fiend, I'll say this: It's worth getting over your issues with softcovers. "Asylum" is better than most of Season Eight (other than #11 and #16, maybe), and "Shadow Puppets" is good as well. Almost "After the Fall" quality ("Asylum" might be better than "Spike: AtF," though I'd have to re-read them both to see).

I saw both of these comics in the book store the other day... I didn't get them. And I had my money with me. I wanted to get them, but I just didn't for some reason... But I did look over both of them. I loved the Fred/Illyria puppet scenes in the one. xD Also, I loved the look of the Lorne puppet. And Betta looked so awesome as a puppet. At first when I saw him(not knowing he was a puppet) I said,"Wtf.. Why does George look so weird in this one???" xD But once I read he was a 'puppet fish' I loved my butt off. Maybe I should go back to that store, and hope they are still there... THEY WERE IN PERFECT CONDITION TOO!!! You should get them, I heard they're awesome! Hahahaha! xD

It's a shame people aren't talking about whether or not the stories are good, instead they're talking about whether or not they are canon. Sigh. You silly thing, we've already done that. ;D We've discussed the dialog, the art, the plot and now it's time for the less important stuff. I bet it sucks reading this discussion, when you've spent so much energy on the comics and people are nagging and nagging about Joss' involvement. But hey, if we thought the comics sucked, we wouldn't bother discussing them. I ignore bad comics, I don't pick them to pieces to understand and enjoy them better. Does that help?

You should be flattered that your work inspires the geeks of the internet to foam at the mouth in debate!

I find it so funny how people get hung up on cannon when Brian Lynch, the writer of said comics, doesn't even care. Even Joss Whedon himself seems pretty chilled about his comic's cannon status, saying quite openly that if a Buffy movie was to happen he'd happily disgard his own comic in its wake. Well sometimes we just don't have anything debate-worthy going on and sometimes people are looking for an argument. I mean, I view the canon arguments with the same eye as other geek-offs over superhero tournaments. This is a fan forum about the Buffyverse and it's okay to have intense discussions and debates about it. It's just important to not confuse the issue - a debate about canon is not a commentary on how good the work is. The two are unrelated and as we can see, sometimes the fuss of the canon argument will eventually lead to discussing the more important narrative merits of the comics. It's a shame people aren't talking about whether or not the stories are good, instead they're talking about whether or not they are canon. Sigh. Well, it's undeniable that they're great stories. We can't argue about that, can we? ("Asylum" might be better than "Spike: AtF," though I'd have to re-read them both to see). Don't be talkin' smack about my favorite story arc! <3 Spike: AtF

Brian, I read in the First Night extra in the HC, that you planned to have Spike check on a friend from Asylum when he was first sent to hell... Wouldn't this mean that it WOULD have been cannon since ATF is? But since it was changed, was this the reason why it didn't happen?

VampSlayer: The friend, Mrs. Konikoff (sp), was from "Shadow Puppets." But I think that the passage actually explains why it was left out.

Thank you, Ethros! I have an idea for a FOURTH (and maybe final, for me) SPIKE series. I've ran ran it by Chris, but not by Mr. Whedon. I could care less if it's canon, I just want it to be awesome. If Joss, Mutant Enemy and James Marsters all declared it canon but I thought it sucked, I wouldn't do it. If when I write it I love it, we'll do it, canon or not. Ahhhhh, that is very, very exciting. We wants it. We nneeeeds it.

Biv the invisible guy was one of my favourites from the Mosiac group. I love a guy who can be a bigger dick than Spike. Like when Spike is drugged out of his mind and Biv wants to hear him sing "Courage and Pluck". I'd love to see more interaction between those two.

Biv was right next to Spike for the entire AFTER THE FALL series. We just couldn't see him.

I love how these characters popped up in cameos in after the fall. Bec is one of my favorite characters and I love the nod to what I think is the best Buffyverse mini series ever (spike asylum)

Would you guys be into a SPIKE:RETURN TO MOSAIC book? Just something we were mulling over once upon a time.
