I guess that Buffy aired when I was only five, which seems weird to me because I thought I was older than that... but anyways, Buffy was always a family thing for me. My mom, dad, brother and I would all crowd around the TV and watch it as a family. We didn't have any other shows like that. When I was a little bit older and Buffy started getting freaky with Riley all the time, my mom turned to us kids and said, "I think you need a talk about the birds and the bees." We totally learned about sex because of Buffy.

I was introduced to Buffy at the age of five by an older friend. This was in 2000 so season 5 was on. I watched my very first episode "Triangle" and loved every second of it. My friend told me that I shouldn't start watching it from season 5 as it wouldn't be as good. Luckily she had the first three seasons on VHS and was going to be getting four soon. We ended up watching the entire of Buffy and Angel together and she even agreed not to watch the later episodes until we had caught up with the older ones. Ten years later and the Buffyverse is still going. Unfortunately me and my friend have drifted apart in the last few years and barely speak anymore. Currently getting every issue of season 8 and purchasing the Angel TPB's when they come. I also have a quite large collection of "Buffy stuff" in my room and will soon add to it with the Factory X Scythe replica.

Curiosity, also I have been a fan of the Vampire genre since my childhood days, when I loved watching the old Universal monster movies or Hammer horror films. After seeing an episode (The Witch) we were hooked.

The first time I ever watched it, actually watched it was when I stayed home from school because I was sick. I was flipping through the channels and stopped at FX because there was this fight scene going on. I was intrigued and it turned out to be the second episode of season six. I was sucked into it so quickly that in the next week I ended up buying the sixth season on dvd and watched it all in 2 days. The weird thing was my older sister used to watch it all the time when I was younger but I never had any interest in it, probably because at the time vampires freaked me out. But if I hadn't stayed home that day, I probably never would have gotten into it. I'm glad I did stay home. I even got my sister back into it recently.

Luckily my mom didn't care. Same here. In fact, my mom bought me most of the seasons back in the day.

"ANGEL" made me watch "Buffy".
What happened was in 1999 I started seeing some commercials for this new show called "ANGEL", and it featured this guy in a black coat, kicking a bit of ass and he had really cool hair. Didn't know a thing about it, or him, but the commercials were enough to get me to watch the October 5, 1999 premiere on The WB. After the teaser and opening credit sequence, I was like, "what the hell was that!"
Statement, not a question.
It was just great. I knew so little about this that I didn't know the man was a vampire until his face transformed and even then it wasn't until Doyle explained things that I started to grasp the concept.
As season 4 of "Buffy" was obviously preceding the broadcast, I glanced at it but didn't pay much attention since I had no idea what was going on, but watched the crossover episodes "The WB Buffy/Angel Crossover Event" as they were called, and often found myself confused about things. Elements that came from Buffy - vampire concepts and rules, events and most importantly characters - who was this Wesley guy? Who is the blond Sid Vicious wannabe? Darla? Who? Cordelia was rich at one point? Why is Seth Green suddenly making an appearance? Harmony is a vampire but wasn't before? Drusilla?
You get the idea.
Cut to 2001, and season 3 is on the horizon, but before that "Buffy" is about to hit TV 5 days a week here in Canada on a channel called "Space", and I finally had the chance to catch up on who Angel, Cordelia, Wesley, Darla and others were, in addition to their history. I can finally understand all the details.
As I watched the broadcast reruns, season 1 of "Buffy" hit store shelves and I figured, 'sure, why not? ' and picked it up. To sum this up now, let me just say that waiting for the season 2 DVD set and eventually season 3 DVD set to arrive in stores was hell, and then some because I couldn't wait to see them again, this time whenever I wanted and with extras.
It wasn't until earlier this year that the character of Buffy Summers herself finally won me over. I loved everyone else on the show from the get-go but Buffy was the one person I didn't like despite the show bearing her name.
My biggest regret in all of this, is that I didn't watch it from its 1997 premiere and follow it like I did "ANGEL". One thing DVD and syndication can never replicate is the sense of anticipation, the shock of revelations and cliffhangers all of which are only truly felt when watching the original first-run broadcasts. The trailers (WB's trailers for both shows were spectacular), the agony of waiting for mid-season reruns and holiday breaks to finish...all of that.

Dollhouse. I was talking with my Biology sub. and we both like Bones(Even though this is not a DB thing, I was aware he was in Angel) she said something about Dollhouse and Eliza Dushku. Since she was interested I thought I would give it a try and fell in love with the pilot, even though I realize now it's not great. I was having trouble waiting week-to-week for more episodes from a cool, intelligent show. I had looked up the trailer for Dollhouse and it said from Joss Whedon: Creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. So I hulu'd it.

I was shown some bits and pieces of certain episodes by a friend of mine a few years back. And I guess it was the fighting that drew me in (lol typical male) and after watching several full episodes out of season 5, I was hooked, becoming a Spike and a Spuffy fan at once. So I went out and bought the entire box set and Angel as well. Best bought DVDs ever (closely followed by Supernatural and Dragonball Z lol)

I'm proud to say that I've watched from the very beginning of the show. When I was younger I was a huge fan of the movie (I was young, okay? haha) and just into things that were horror based like that so naturally when I heard there was something else with Buffy in it, I really wanted to watch it. So basically if it hadn't been for the movie, I probably wouldn't have watched it until much later than I did.

I had seen it on TV a few times when it was originaly airing, however it wasn't untill my husband came home from sea with season 7 (he watched 1-6 underway) The potentials kept my intrest, some of them seemed like normal girls just thrust into this supernatural world... That and Spike and Buffy's relationship, it was so beautiful, but confusing at the same time, I wanted to know more about it.

I saw the movie when it came out, didn't like it, and as a result almost dismissed the show out of hand...until the great reviews and word of mouth began arriving this side of the pond. So when season one aired for the first time on Sky TV back in 1998 I gave it a go. And was instantly hooked. Twelve years later and Buffy is my favourite show ever and one of the things in life I love the most. Thank you Joss.

Thanks to my mam. She was always a hard blooded Buffy fan. I remember playing outside with my friends, and then i remember Buffy was on air so i ditched them for Buffster. It was worth it. I still watch Buffy with my mam, she the best. And watching Buffy with your love ones is special. Family time = Buffy!. ;D

A few friends at school were talking about it (during season 3). I didn't tune in until the start of season 4, just to see what the hype was about. I had no idea I'd be sucked in so hard and obsessed with it still 10 years later.

I had seen some pieces of it on tv, but in middle school I happened upon an episode on the Space channel (they aired the syndicated eps) and I think it was Reptile Boy. It was the humour in it that actually got me hooked. I remember I couldn't stop talking about it with my friends (and now many of them are hooked as well, though none so much as I). I got caught up on Space and joined in the new eps around season 6. All these years later and I still just can't stop talking about it, lol.
