Pat I want to point out the multi quote button that EWR is fond of over on the new board... it makes posts like your last one alot easier... Er, the post wasn't particularly hard.

I don't think she was saying that it's hard. It's just a lot easier to multiple quote on the new forum. Been playing with it myself. I'm gonna miss this place... can't imagine when I started as a newbie with 0 posts, and 0 karma. It was a fun ride getting to where I am now. And hey, the new place is a little daunting. Not gonna lie. Some of us have been playing catch-up, trying to get boards repopulated and all. In fact, that's pretty much all I've been doing for the most part, so I haven't even really gotten to participate in discussion, because quite frankly, after moving some 20 or so threads... I just want to not think about what I wanna say.

Is the new site down for anyone else? I can't seem to access it , it keeps diverting me and saying the link is broken.

Are you guys still having problems? It's working fine for me.
And I'll miss this forum too. It's served us well.

Would it be possible to put a link, maybe at the top of each forum on the new site, pointing to the old archived forum on the old site? That would make it a lot easier to refer to the old conversations, and even copy-and-paste a quote to reply to something on the old site. I'm gonna get depressed looking at all those empty forums for the old season 8 arcs where the conversation is basically finished. It will be like looking at the empty corner in January after you've taken the Christmas tree down. I actually just opened up a bunch of Season 8 issue threads over on the new site and did exactly that: linked to the archived discussion. I'm not too worried about the old threads, tbh. How often do we ever go back and post in them? The conversation is always in the next issue and these old threads will be there to be read later on. But new conversation is what'll keep us going. Even rereading the season and going back to strike up conversation in the earlier arcs like LWH, NFFY and WatG.

Then I bid you fairwell, though I have to say... If you are leaving slayalive just because of the way it looks? Then maybe you arn't as dedicated and good member as I thought you were. I'm not dedicated to Slay Alive, I'm dedicated to Buffy and Joss's work. Also, I'm dedicated to the conversations I had here for years, all of which are not a part of the new site. It's not only the way it looks, though aesthetics are really important to me when choosing a forum to frequent. It's the fact that this is Slay Alive. Slay Alive is what the users contributed over the years. I love Phil, but I just don't understand the need for a blank slate. If it ain't broke, well... you know the rest. I don't want to seem to be jumping on you or anything, but I'd argue that a forum is not the sum of its past threads, but rather the quality of the discussion that happens -- and the community that exists -- in the here and now. CowboyGuy, one question ... even though the new forum will probably quickly eclipse this one in search engine results when people are searching for Buffy forums, it's likely that individual threads from this one will continue to pop up as search engine results for one query or another. Is there any way to make it so the link to the new forum appears along with every thread, instead of just on the forum index pages?

I miss this place even though I've been cheating on it with the new Slayalive.
