I'm one of those who believe Angel, Spike and Buffy's fates (and hearts) will be forever chained to one another. They're a threesome and it makes plenty of sense to me that the plot should lead there eventually.
Buffy's welcome to Spike now was outright cruel, and baffling to read. It makes me dislike her; Spike deserves a world of much better. But then again, both Buffy and Angel have been epically off since the beginning of the Twighlight arc. I can't even bring myself to list how many of their choices, reactions, interpretations of such choices and reactions have made no sense at all lately.
Spike still loves Buffy. He's nothing if not constant in his affections. Most likely, his apparent nonchalance in the face of her and Angel's space-sex is to do with that selfless streak he's got going on for him. For all his hedonism, he's awfully quick to put himself aside and just get shit done whenever he feels the situation demands it. Also, he never feels that worthy of a good thing, does he now? Which of course is ridiculous, and yet one of the reasons I love him. Season 8 has not been fair to him so far.

I didn't find her welcome cruel, so much as confusing. I'd like to know what went on previous, because as far as I knew, she didn't know he was back. I find they're both sort of holding back something, that I do hope comes out, because this is just getting confusing. I'm sure Spike still has feelings for Buffy, and it seems at the very least Buffy is still attracted to Spike, if not more, but neither are really showing it. I would like to see them at least talk about something beyond the coming magicpocolipse
