Jeanty could be lying. He's not really in a position to know what happens next season anyway. If you have any reason to think he's a liar, I'd like to know what it is. This has nothing to do with next season, but who survives this season. Do we have any reason to think he's not lying? We've been lied to and mislead pretty much all season. Why should we believe anything he says? He said Dawn/Xander will continue to grow. There's not much time for that to happen this season and its doubtful he knows what happens next season so I'm suspicious of what he said. He might not outright be lying, but I'm more inclined to believe he is being decietful than that he's just willing to spoil such a major plot element beforehand.

I just saw on DH website that the final issue was bummed back to Jan 19th instead of Jan 5th. Bah! At least its the calming dust settles after the storm issue. I'm excited for the storm in December! Oh, BTW - I don't think peeps should fear Spike not being on the cover of issue #40 This basically tells you, Spike IS there, he just missing from THIS preview cover because someone in THIS scene will be gone. My guess... Giles.

Jeanty has yet to be deceitful, and your assumptions negate the third but equally valid option: "No comment". Jeanty didn't have to divulge any information or lies. He just had to say those two words. He didn't.

THIS is Scott Allie's reply to the question about why the hold-up. It's a scheduling issue, but not because of delays on the production front. It's basically to tie-in with Buffy's birthday.

I'm not sure Scott isn't joking about that. In any case, I don't expect it will be a very happy birthday for Buffy this time either.

How mean. Doesn't he know how Buffy's birthdays usually go? I did see that Twitter exchange. Did I see him correctly? Another Hellboy in Mexico comic? *drool*

Spike's getting his own comic. I don't think they can kill him and bring him back again. Has anybody thought that the traitor might be Buffy herself. Betraying the Scoobies? But I do think Giles is probably a goner.

Broken scythe? Wouldn't all the newbie slayers revert to normal? Perhaps leading all to be killed, leaving only Buffy and Faith as the sole slayers. And after they're gone, no new slayers till Fray.

Or maybe it just stops the process. I got the impression from "Chosen" that Willow's power was using the Scythe to awaken the latent powers within all Potentials. Without the Scythe, that process won't happen anymore. Or it could go to another extreme and end ALL Slayer powers, INCLUDING Buffy and Faith. ...What a completely unbearable wait!

i get this gut feeling that we'll see the rturn of pike (the buffy movie) in this issue... just kidding. but i must say i'm worried about the buffy from here on out. if the scoobies are not together in the next season, then i think the magic (no pun intended) of the stroy telling will be gone.
i wouldn't doubt if the jeanty cover is a mislead or alternate. but i must say, the cover makes me think of season three. all the main characters of that season are there. and that's one of my favorite seasons!

If you look at Jeanty's cover, I'm pretty sure Giles is Spike. They just added some glasses and darkend the hair to throw us off.

That's definitely possible... although I think it would kind of suck if Angel gets a spot on the farewell cover and Giles doesn't.
I also think Dawn will be in the final version of the cover, in the blank space beneath Giles/Spike.

I'm pretty sure that when this cover is released, Dawn will be on the cover and Giles will be gone. They're pushing the "Dawn is dying!" thing way, way too hard for it to happen. whow patxshand, you wrote this on october 7th.
