I would looove to see other Dollhouses. We've seen glimpses of the D.C. Dollhouse but as Echo said in Man on the Street, there are over 20 Dollhouses...Dubai, Manhattan, the one in Japan...it'd be interesting if Echo and the gang paid some visits to these other Dollhouses, to take them down.

You know, I think the "Doll of the Week" can still be done in comic format if they want to tell stories running parallel to, in between, or prior to Seasons One and Two. A standard 22-page comic is enough to tell a stand-alone Doll engagement.

I didn't buy season 2 yet so I don't know, but I am wondering if the issue in that dvd set is like the un-official first issue??

I mean, with the way that it ended, I can't help but think that it is definitely setting up for what is to come. I know you said you haven't read it yet, but yeah. I'd be mad if they just kind of went off and didn't resolve the comic that is with the DVD

A standard 22-page comic is enough to tell a stand-alone Doll engagement. The problem with a standard engagement of the week in comics is that you can't establish tone and personality that well. For characters with a set personality, like the Buffyverse ones, you don't have to worry about it as much, since fans are well aware of what they sound and act like. But so much of a different personality is in the little ticks in the way a person acts, and that's one of the shortcomings of the comic format.

I think for the comics, the engagements should be a no for that very reason. HOWEVER, the exact thing that makes the engagements a bad idea for comics, opens it up for awesome storytelling in the future setting. We as audience members will then be forced to try and decipher whether characters can be trusted or if they aren't who they, in fact, say they are and they've been wiped and reimprinted.

We'd have to actually see a comic book "engagement of the week" to see whether or not that theory holds any weight.

News on Dollhouse comics to come: splashpage.mtv.com/2010/10/22/dollhouse-comics/The problem with a standard engagement of the week in comics is that you can't establish tone and personality that well. We'd have to actually see a comic book "engagement of the week" to see whether or not that theory holds any weight. That "theory" is apparently why Joss was initially reluctant to do a Dollhouse comic. At one point, he came up with an idea of how it could be done, but that then became the "Epitaph" episodes, so that didn't work out. Until now. If you read the interview linked above, Allie details some of the process. But if I recall correctly, the "theory" in question comes from J-Dubya himself.

Fantastic interview. I hadn't noticed Eliza/S2 DVD Cover on the comic! That's pretty epic. And from what I can tell, I'm happy and yet disappointed that the comics will focus only on the Epitaph Survivors. I mean, it's great, but I'd love to see other stories as well. Maybe we could see what Echo and Co. are doing in the Dollhouse, while hiding out? Those flashbacks in Epitaph One are so interesting. (Just give me more Whiskey goodness, damnit! D:< [Kidding... Sorta.])

Hmm...can't say I'm that excited for these comics. The DVD comic begs for a follow-up, sure (the one shot), but I'd rather see the mini-series show us Echo and co. I suppose if this mini series does well, they'll do more, which could mean we'll see Engagements of the Month or other future stories focusing on the Safe Haven crew.

Well I can't imagine them doing a future comic and not showing us the Dollhouse/Safe Haven crew at all. There were ten years of things that occurred.

Interview with Jed and Maurissa HERE where they talk a little about what's to come in the comics. Also, they reveal how many books are in the run (6, including the book included with the Season 2 DVDs). Mild spoilers.

Does this mean that in order to understand the comic series I'm gonna have to buy the season 2 dvd?

Does this mean that in order to understand the comic series I'm gonna have to buy the season 2 dvd? Possibly. Or just wait for the comics to be collected as a trade paperback or hardcover, because the DVD comic will more than likely be collected there.

UGH! I'm glad there is more "Dollhouse" to come, but I'm tired of having all my favorite shows continued in comic book form! I hate comic books, I can't BUY the comic books in Buffy, Angel, Charmed, and now Dollhouse. Now I can never actually know what happens to the characters I love.

Why do you hate comic books? Why can't you buy them?

Maurissa and Jed just aren't getting me very enthused for this series! I guess it's hard for me to get enthused for a "prequel" when we already know how the story ends. I'd be interesting in catching up with the characters a couple years after Epitaph 2.
