Noted, sir. Thanks for the rec. Looking forward to it as you have taste par excellence. This is like the first time in over a year I've posted in a Spike thread without bitching and it's 'cause I went OT. Thanks. Still want you to attack Gaiman's Sandman, though. As for your going rogue on the topic, you're such a Palin. You should try dancing.

As far as the comic? I can't see how anyone who has even glanced at Whedon's work could consider "The Walking Dead" to be passable. Not only is the writing offensively bad and cliched ("We... are the walking dead! WE ARE THE WALKING DEAD!" ugh), it's also horribly sexist. And personally, I don't give much of a damn about the feminist message in Buffy. I'm not an activist. I like smart, well-written entertainment and Joss provides that. What I don't like, though, is when something clearly has an agenda. And Kirkman, to me anyway (happy?), seems to have an agenda against modern and correct gender roles... and the English language. We'll just have to agree to disagree on the dialogue, which I've never had a problem with. As far as the sexism goes... it's something I picked up on while reading but it doesn't bother me. I love Buffy for it's feminist mission statement but not every series needs to live up to that. Walking Dead is about the break down of human society... regressing to basic survival instincts. It's realistic that alpha male characters would take charge and others would follow. And more importantly, there are two very strong female characters in the series. Andrea has a beautiful arc from helpless victim to fully capable warrior. Michonne is the strongest character in the book... alpha males like Rick and Tyreese regularly rely on her for physical protection and strategy.

Aw, kittens! I wonder if Willow rescues them from a kitten poker game. I like that Mooney is using Willow's (characterisically terrible) fashion sense from S8.

However, he's also managed to make Willow look like Cher playing pagan dress-up.

Yep, the kittens are so sweet! Oh, I forgot about the kitten poker game! Bad Spike! What he is doing with these poor kittens! And yeah Willow is dressed just like in season 8... Btw, which of these kittens is miss Kitty Fantastico?

Btw, which of these kittens is miss Kitty Fantastico? It was implied that Miss Kitty Fantastico was the victim of a crossbow accident in S7. In "End of Days", I think, just before Xander chloroforms Dawn.

It's realistic that alpha male characters would take charge and others would follow. Ooooh, I really really disagree. However, he's also managed to make Willow look like Cher playing pagan dress-up. You really think so? I think it's one of his best pages. And I love the dude's work, so that's saying a lot.

I'm getting fixated by weird details with the art. Most notably how Willow's neck and shoulders look really, really weird. Like bulky and bulging even. Willow's got a linebacker's neck and shoulders in that page.
Which is soooo strange because Willow herself has an incredibly slender and elegant neck. This Willow looks... beefy.
Willow in the Spike series! She's butch!

Her chest has also been somewhat inflated, yet again, leading to the beefier appearance that Emmie pointed out.
Which leads me to an image of Cher, smiling coquettishly (that's a rather scary image), saying "Hello, boys..." in a raspy cougar-type voice.

She reminds me of the cliched image of a buxom German tavern wench. You know, more bulky and bigboned. Only instead of tankards of ale she's got cats!
It's weird though because Willow is the antithesis of that image: she's ethereal, small boned, slender, with itty bitties up top that were decidedly not showing when she wore that dress before in Season 8.
Count on IDW to remind us that women have cleavage even when Season 8 doesn't go there nor does that similar-styled outfit show Willow that way in OMWF.

Why would I say it if I didn't think so? ...Expression. Count on IDW to remind us that women have cleavage even when Season 8 doesn't go there nor does that similar-styled outfit show Willow that way in OMWF. That is a fact. Season Eight is too busy with the soft-core porn to really bother about cleavage.

You know what? I agree. I didn't take enough time to make sure I'd given Willow the correct proportions when I drew this a few days back, and yep, she did look a tad 'inflated' as a result. A lot of the time this stuff needs to be turned around so quickly, that I end up falling back on standard-issue comicbook body-types, and as you say, Will certainly doesn't fall into that category.
So I've taken another pass at it. Please hop over to the updated image on my blog(http://moondog-themoonblog.blogspot.com) and take a look. Hopefully it more faithfully represents the real Willow!
And also, please do pick the issue up when it hits. Brian's scene where Spike and Willow reunite is so heartwarming it's ridiculous.

Can't wait for this reunion. Spike and Willow always had an interesting relationship, and since Season 8 is so busy, it will be nice for Spike to have some extended interaction with an old Scoobie. And it's always nice to have a Mooney pop-in at SlayAlive!
