Gonna go with you don't know what is. And your opinion became fact when exactly? Art is subjective Pat, Ethros has a right to criticise it, just like you criticised Georges Jeanty for rushing in certain issues of S8. Why are his obervations and opinions less valid than yours?

Why are his obervations and opinions less valid than yours? Dude... do you realize that you're doing exactly what you're criticizing me for doing? Ethos stated his opinion. I thought he was dead wrong, and I expressed that. Ethos backed up his opinion, and yet... I still thought/think he's wrong. Sort of my prerogative. And if you were looking for an "In my opinion" to preface my opinion because this is a forum about a fictional work. "In my opinion" is, in my opinion (har!), pussyfooting around the debate. The fact that we're dealing with opinions here is kind of implied, no? I didn't say "This is the way it is, you are wrong, neh nah neh nah, no matter what you say I'm right, no backsies." Didn't say his opinions were less valid. You put those words into my mouth, and I'm not really sure why. No beef.

Didn't say his opinions were less valid. You put those words into my mouth, and I'm not really sure why. No beef. But yeah, I definitely think George's art was rushed. There was a monumental decrease in quality during the P&P arc. I'll stick by that. I promise I'll never give you crap or give you a thumbs down if you disagree with me and leave out "in my opinion, please don't think I was suggesting my opinions trump yours." Because dude. They're your opinions. To you... they should trump mine. But Mooney, I think his stuff was great for "After the Fall." I liked Nick Runge's stuff, but it was clear that the art was indeed rushed in some parts. The end of #11 comes to mind, as does some of #9. But Mooney is solid throughout. Ethos might think different, and I will continue to disagree. Debate is sorta the whole point of this place existing, no?

Didn't say his opinions were less valid. You put those words into my mouth, and I'm not really sure why. No beef. Pat, come on. Your comment "Gonna go with you don't know what is" was very dismissive towards Ethros. You weren't disagreeing, you were telling him his opinion was wrong. The reason I gave you a thumbs down was for the rudeness, not the fact that you were defending Mooney. I know I can get a little bitchy sometimes too, but there's a better way to express your opinion. I actually agree that Jeanty's art wavers in quality, "Retreat" in particular was much poorer than the other arcs. I like him, but he rushes in places, as does Mooney. I do however think that Runge's work in AtF was some, if not the, worst art I've ever seen in a published comic. He's much better suited to covers.

Pat, come on. Your comment "Gonna go with you don't know what is" was very dismissive towards Ethros. You weren't disagreeing, you were telling him his opinion was wrong. That's because my opinion is that Ethros was wrong. How is that not disagreeing? How is thinking someone is wrong is different than disagreeing with them? It's a silly battle of semantics. But as far as worst published art goes, you should read The Walking Dead. Yeesh that book is bad. (First arc aside.)

It's a fine line, Pat. You can disagree without being rude or dismissive. Telling someone that they "don't know what is" is different from saying "I disagree. Here's why:..."

You should be locked up for that comment, Pat. That's comic book blasphemy. Walking Dead is my favourite comic book series. It kicks the absolute shit out of the Buffy and Angel comics in both art and writing.

I see some of the colored covers and they blow me away and I wonder why they deny us that beauty inside the book. ...not to sound like a mod or anything tho but to get back on point of this forum topic.. I'm getting giggly thinking of Willow and spike sharing some face time.

I think being B&W adds to the atmosphere of the book... it makes it feel raw and... well, dead.

The Walking Dead definitely shouldn't be colored. The b&w works for the story. The first arc had great art.
And Wyndam, I know. Sorry about that. I've yet to get into the television series, but I've heard it's great.
As far as the comic? I can't see how anyone who has even glanced at Whedon's work could consider "The Walking Dead" to be passable. Not only is the writing offensively bad and cliched ("We... are the walking dead! WE ARE THE WALKING DEAD!" ugh), it's also horribly sexist. And personally, I don't give much of a damn about the feminist message in Buffy. I'm not an activist. I like smart, well-written entertainment and Joss provides that. What I don't like, though, is when something clearly has an agenda. And Kirkman, to me anyway (happy?), seems to have an agenda against modern and correct gender roles... and the English language.
I really did enjoy the first arc, but the flaws in that just seemed to multiply with every volume. I wish I could like it, because after reading the first one I bought a bunch of volumes... and being a fan of it must be great, as Kirkman said he'd never stop writing Rick's story. But I just can't stomach it. And not the gore or darkness, because I love "Preacher" which is gorier and darker. I just find it to be really, really bad in more ways than I could count.

I find this OT comic book geeking out adorable.
Clearly there's something wrong with me.

Samesies. My girlfriend is a Trekkie and an overall big giant geek, so I've found my person ahaha. We're currently watching BtVS together for the first time. She's a big Angel fan, though, and she got to meet all the IDW people at NYCC with me. She geeked out with Mariah about squids for a while.

While you're attacking the Batman stuff, read Grant Morrison's Arkham Asylum. Noted, sir. Thanks for the rec. Looking forward to it as you have taste par excellence. This is like the first time in over a year I've posted in a Spike thread without bitching and it's 'cause I went OT.
