Fray world = Buffy has lost. The world is not saved, and the demons are still doing their thing! Something Buffy herself laments over after realizing she is in the future. I strongly disagree with this. How is the Frayverse Buffy's fault? She's not responsible for pollution, poverty, or human corruption and denial. The problems in the Frayverse are human things which exist in our world, not some mystical threat that the Slayer must save everyone from. Yes there are a few vampires and demons in Fray's world, but apparently less than in the present day. And Buffy is long dead so they're not her responsibility anymore, they're Melaka's. I think Fray depicts a perfectly appropiate future for the Buffyverse. It's dark, but the Buffyverse has always been dark, just with less flying cars.

I'm on the protectee side. I mean, magic is so beneficial and useful - even if it mean a few of our core characters get hurt, magic usually pulls through to be something of a necessity for the Buffyverse - without it just imagine the world our characters would have to deal with! (Although I recall in almost every episode magic was used it lead to "worse" circumstances... but when we need it to save the day, its there! Like State Farm!)

I'm not sure where to weigh in but I have a feeling its gonna come down to Buffy vs Willow on the protect/destroy the seed thing and Xander will destroy it while theyre distracted.

But in Dollhouse, although characters may have died, the greater good was achieved because Rossum was taken out. Fray world = Buffy has lost. The world is not saved, and the demons are still doing their thing! Something Buffy herself laments over after realizing she is in the future. Whether or not Buffy wins or loses will, I think, be up to us to decide in the ending of this season. The history books as depicted in Fray seem to imply that Buffy's conquest over the demons was a good thing. From an outside point-of-view, maybe it is -- but because the story we're reading involves characters we know and love, our view of the future events is a little biased. We want S8 to turn out one way or another, and that colors our interpretations of the events happening. At the same time, regardless of whether Buffy "wins" or "loses", the fact that Fray is a story that happens, somehow, means that the world goes on after this battle. Buffy may feel responsible for somehow bringing about what she sees as the end of all things, but that doesn't necessarily mean she is. (Though, her worrying about that in Time of Your Life is well within character and one of my favorite parts of that arc.) Hmm... thinking about this ending has put a lot of S8 in broader perspective for me. Can't wait to see how it all ends; I'm very interested in the metaphors at play in this season.

Protect it! What would Buffy be without magic?..........................well, I guess still just Buffy but it'd be different y'know.

For the sake of humanity - destroy it
For the sake of a good story - protect it!
(I voted "destroy")

^ Oh cool, I had similar views and I didn't know what to vote for. I'll do what you did. Future Shane will be so mad at me. Wow, it's going like a coin toss.

I say destory the seed. I think in the long run it would be the best for humanity. I think this might be what really splits the team apart. As we have seen Willow is very protective of magic and I think that she would put it before the rest of the world. I love Willow to death, but I think when it comes to magic she become very selfish.
Plus I think that the story would be more interesting if the gang had to work without magic for a while.

I notice the early votes were all to protect it, but the destroy votes are catching up. I'm not sure what that means, any ideas?

^ Initially they should try to protect it but after discussing it with friends they should warm up to the idea of destroying it.

Little off topic, but who are the main players in this story line? What charactors want to protect it? What ones want to destroy it? Who is neutral?

Little off topic, but who are the main players in this story line? What charactors want to protect it? What ones want to destroy it? Who is neutral? The Master is the Seed's protector and his goal is to make sure it stays put. Willow is apparently helping him. The General, who is against magic, seems to be pushing Xander into destroying it. Twilight (the sentient dimension created by Buffy and Angel's space sex) described the Seed as it's "soul" and has possessed Angel in an attempt to apprehend it. Buffy hasn't said much about it, but so far, she's been going along with Willow and The Master. Giles' position isn't clear yet either, but his soul appearance on Jeanty's cover for #39 suggests he's got a big part to play in the upcoming issue.

arght, 21 protects vs 22 destroys... Quite a schism in the comunity, huh. Ya gotta love Joss. I might vote to protect it, just to keep the balance. I 'm used to playing mediator anyway...

YOUR EYES THAT DART THE RAYS OF THE SUN! I assume we have till December to see which side is declared the winner...but it might make for fun conversation in the meantime. So which side do you choose? Protect the Seed, or destroy it? And explain why, or reasons behind what is making you choose. Or do you see the right in both sides? Go! where did you find that panel of willows red face?? I've been looking everywhere online for it

Protect the seed. A world without magick is not a world I would like to live in generally, and in the world of Buffy it just doesn't seem right to destroy it forever given how much it has provided for the protection of so many.

Haven't checked this thread for a while, I see the destroyers are now ahead. Is opinion in the fandom shifting?

My suspicion is that at this point, destroying the Seed itself would be irrelevant because Willow now has its power.
