So today I had a conversation with a new person at work. He is from Hawaii, so I asked him if there were more things to do, and ways to entertain yourself there. He said yeah, because Hawaii is a big tourist destination but it was still equally boring for him. I thought that was interesting because to me it would seem like more to do would automatically mean less boredom.
Anyways, we came to the conclusion that any place you grow up is automatically boring to you, because you have been there so long and you have done everything.
So I was wondering how you guys feel about the place you grew up in. Does anyone find that area at all interesting? You don't have to be specific as to where it is. I just want to know how common this is.

I find Alaska infinitely boring (well, at least, I did before I moved), and seeing as it's quite the tourist trap, I think your theory is a correct one. Washington, on the other hand - I'm going to be finding new things to do for a long time.

Well I always holiday in England so I still haven't found that boring. And the area where I live I'm always finding new interesting things like exploring the fields with my friends and derelict buildings (I take photos, I don't go in). I think it's less to do with where you grew up and more to do with who you are. Some people have shorter attention spans, so can keep moving around but eventually get bored. I tend to be eternally entertained by the same things, so I probably wouldn't get bored in the same area.

Where I live is pretty boring enough. The only good thing that happens only happens once a month, what we call Third Friday. Basically, pub becomes a miniture nightclub. The city where I do my fun shopping is soo much better. It's about a hundred times bigger and there's a lot more things to do. Gonna move there one day

Where I live we have a mall and that's about it. If I want to do something after 10pm my only option is to go a diner... or 7/11, or this one 24/7 supermarket, so if I'm hungry I'm all set, but there really isn't much in the ways of entertainment. If I have money and a weekend off I live pretty much right in the middle of New York City and Boston, but it takes 2 hours to get to either.
I liked your take on this scarygothgirl.

Where I used to live in CT if I was bored I would go walk around the Crystal Mall, or go Bowling, or to the Movies, or Roller Skating... Sometimes I would grab a sandwich from Subway and go to the Arboretum for a picnic. Here in Nevada, there isn't much... I used to go to this restaurant that has since burned down. Now I just get on line, or watch movies... Occasionally I will go for a drive just so I can see stuff that isn't the inside of my house...

I once got lost and ended up at the Crystal Mall. Sometimes when my friends and I are extremely bored we will all chip in gas money and get lost and try to find our way home for fun (we bring a GPS to turn on just in case we get too lost.) That is how I found the Crystal Mall. We went inside and found that it has most of the same store as the Buckland Mall, so we left to continue being lost in whichever town the Crystal Mall is in.

I had this same conversation with my best friend today. She was bored out of her mind but she's much more of an outgoing, outdoorsy person, while I am more of an inside, homebody. We both live in the NY metro area, and aside from the fact that it's possible to go out and get a great meal, I can't really think of much else to do. A bunch of my other friends who move here find the city to be very exciting but I've been here my whole life and it just feels like the same old thing to me. But you know how the saying goes- The grass is greener on the other side. I'm sure if I lived in a different city, there would be a lot more for me to explore. I'm especially envious of those of you who live in the UK, Europe and Australia. Anyway orangejuicepony, Hawaii sounds like it would be a great place to live. Lots of sunshine and sandy beaches. I don't know if I would ever get tired of that.

For awhile now, I have wished that I lived around New York City. Every time I go there, there is always something exciting to experience. I always thought that if I lived around there, I would never run out of new things to do, same thing with Hawaii and it's always interesting to hear otherwise. I just think everyones answers are great.

I could never get bored of where I grew up. I was born there and lived there until I was 19. I go back there a few times a year and wish I still lived there. There are only two pubs, one supermarket and hardly any shops. There is no nightclub, the cinema is an old theatre with one screen and room for about 100 people and films are always on there about two months after the rest of the world! There is only one bus every two hours and no taxi service. The nearest big shopping centre is over an hours drive away. All this taken into account it is still the best place in the world and I could live there for the rest of my life and never get bored. I can walk around at 3 in the morning on my own without feeling afraid, the beach stretches on for miles and miles and there are so many beautiful nature reserves and mountains, and so many walks to go on. I wish I was still there
