Gotta say, IDW is doing a better job taking advantage of the success of AtF than Dark Horse is with S8 (the "Director's Cut" of issue #1, and then a four-part Spike spinoff). DH needs to get going here and start giving us some extras... I'm not so sure about that. Dark Horse is definitely taking advantage of the Season Eight success--they wouldn't be doing a Buffy omnibus series (so far, four huge volumes) if it weren't for S8. Also, the hulking Buffy- Panel to Panel book is 100% because of Season Eight's success, as well as the massive reprinting of Fray.

I'm wanting them to do something else more directly related to S8--either special features of some kind in the TPBs, or a spinoff miniseries, or something...

I agree. I'd like a Faith spin-off. But really, who wouldn't? Just to see what Faith and Giles have been up to since. Let Cliff Richard's or Paul Lee pencil and Brian K. Vaughan or a Buffy writer write. Shit, I'LL write it lol.
I think it's silly that they don't have special features in the TPBs. Maybe they're saving the good stuff for the big hardbound Season Eight book, but c'mon... give the people a reason (other than Jo's awesome new covers) to buy the TPBs. We know there are character sketches, scripts... and Joss could do commentary. They should do commentary. Though Joss is rather busy...

You know, honestly, NFFY should've been a S8-related spinoff, and not part of the main S8 itself--and I say that even tho it's probably my favorite part of the season so far (I reserve the right to change that based on how good #15 is next month). It just wasn't a good idea to get away from the main characters like that for 4 months, and then the Faith portion of the story suffered because they felt the need to stick these little Buffy/Xander/Dawn/Willow scenes in there that were really irrelevant to the main story that was being told. The message of, "These are still our main characters, so don't forget about them" couldn't have been more clear if it had actually been written at the bottom of each panel...

Well if you like Faith at all this is a must read. The Long Way Home is one of my favorite comic stories of last year, actually it's probably #1. You get a great Faith story, very cool characterization of Giles, great villains, and one hell of a grey story. I think this has been the best arc so far, and Brian K. Vaughn is probably my favorite author in comics today. I'm waiting on my trade, should be in tomorrow or thurs.

I'm getting mine tomorrow, and though I've already read this arc, I'm still excited. Can't wait to read it all together. No Future For You deserves all the accolades it gets. It was a fantastic story, and Anywhere But Here was the perfect close for it. I really can't wait for Faith and Giles to feature in Season Eight again.

I'm so glad this finally came out. The cover art work is brilliant. Now I'm gonna read The Long Way Home and No Future For You in order so it has more consistency. I love you TPBs.

So did anyone who purchased the TPB's notice any differences between that and the individual issues? I'm just asking because there were a few errors that were corrected for 'The Long Way Home'.

I just got this today... And I was going to point some of the differences even though I didn't see your post. And four months later ;D The first thing I noticed was on NFFY Part 2, when Will is talking to Dawn, her original line "I'm as sensitive to profiling as the first jewish gay wicca..." was changed to "I'm as sensitive to profiling as the first wiccan gay jewess". The font when Twilight speaks was changed too, now it's the same he uses on TOYL. That's what I've noticed so far.

Oh my god. They can't do that. It's, it's... Not accurate. I feel like when they changed the word in... Buffy called Caleb a woman hating... ponce?, or something, but in the DVD, it's "jerk", not the original word.
It feels wrong.

I had trouble reading that line when I first read it because of how it was put together.

But if I remember it right, Caleb's original word ("p****") was changed before the episode even aired. The only trace of it was in the closed-captioning. So the DVD contains the broadcast version. The other two cases I remember of that (lines being changed between the time the closed-captioning was done, and the airing) are in "Storyteller", when Wood starts getting affected by the seal and tells Buffy, "I know what you're doing--you're with that vampire; screwing that vampire; you filthy whore!" It was originally, "You're with that vampire; screwing that vampire; the one that killed my--" And in "Why We Fight" ("Angel" S5), Spike starts singing "God Save the King", and the captioning had it listed as "God Save the Queen".
