Someone else said to keep in mind that the entire Tales of the Vampire is actually being told in the future by an ancient Vampire to a group of children being trained to be future Watchers...so it could be his exaggeration. That is a really great point. I haven't actually read them yet, so thank you for pointing that out.

Thanks for posting this CowboyGuy! I have yet to read Tales of the Vampires (I keep forgetting to have my comic store order it for me) so this was nice. I'm trying to stay away from things that'll spoil me for S8 so I had no idea Drac was coming back, but I'm glad I read this.

I really enjoyed that! The art was great it was simple to follow. Xander looked hilarious with his little legs and hunchback!
Poor Drac... Can't wait for Wolves at the Gate!

I think this takes place AFTER Wolves at the Gate. "Thank you for teaching me to ride a motorbike." ::::: SPOILERBut I guess it could fit either way. We'll probably get some reference to Antique and there will be a little box that says "*see ANTIQUE"

I think that it takes place before the beginning of season 8 and they will count on Xander's time with Drac to convince him to help(?) them

I'm not usually someone who gets hung up on what's canon and what isn't canon, but I really don't like the idea of this story being referenced in season eight; I'm more than willing to accept it is a joke - even as something like 'Storyteller', or the comic Jane Espenson wrote with everyone speculating on what happened between Buffy and Angel when they met up after Buffy had been resurrected (ie. the bit they couldn't show on TV) - but it just seems too ridiculous to induct it into the official 'canon'...

MB x Yeah I agree. It's a good, nice story but it seems a bit silly to consider it canon.

The thing I have to remember when thinking about canonical items is that for it to be considered canon, Joss must oversee it. I imagine him coming up with the key points and having the writers hash it out, then reviewing it to make sure it is consistent with his mental image of what he considers true to the Buffyverse. He's the creator. If it's considered canon, whether we like it or not, Joss has approved it.

I feel like pummeling some people who keep repeating over and over again "It's too (blank) to be canon" or "I don't like it, it's not canon".

lol same. 'It's not canon cause I say so.' Well actually Joss gets to say so. Oh well, guess people will do that. Everyone interprets the story differently.. and usually to suit what they enjoy. Nice pick about the motorbike.. I didn't connect that.

Yeah, the cover is etched in my mind. It's hard to imagine the dark prince and man-servant on a motorbike

I never would've thought to look back at this story if you hadn't posted it.
Where was the Jane Espenson comic about the B/A meeting in season 6?? I think I missed that one.

Oh, I'd never seen that before! (I was a comic virgin before Season 8...) That was a really good story.

What if the Xander we have been seeing thus far in Season 8 is not really Xander but a duplicate of some sort...like a robot programed with Xander's memories who actually thinks he is the real Xander, or some sort of clone that thinks he is the real deal, like maybe Xander's essence or whatever was magically put into the duplicate...then the story of Antique is actually in between the first and second issue of Wolves at the Gate and the big thing about issue 12 is that we learn that Xander is not really Xander and the real Xander is with Dracula...
I'm actually just kidding around and I do not think this will happen...In fact they would have to come up with something really good for me to be excited about something like this happening...

This was spread over a few issues of the Buffy magazine years back. It's a good read.

That was a great little read! Explains why Daracula is "old" in the Wolves At The Gate previews. I think that this probably takes place after the 'Wolves' arc. Maybe Xander decides to leave with Dracula of his own accord, turns into his man-slave, then when Buffy finds out she goes and rescues him? There are loads of possibilities, I'm dying to find out what the truth it!
