I have a theory. Now it's a bit of a long shot but I think that Twilight could be...Mr Maclay (Tara's dad) I just watched Family and he is misogynistic because he was trying to keep Tara in line and made it seem like he likes to keep the women in his family in line. Also, he doesn't like magic. In fact his last word on the show is "magic" in a tone that suggests he hates it. He could be targeting Buffy and the gang as a way of blaming them for Tara's death. He knows that if she had come home with him, she wouldn't have gotten killed. This would also be tough for Willow as well as the rest of them. P.S, I get the credit if Twilight is him hehe. HOLY CRAP! I think you're on to something! That said, the image of the girls getting down with their bad selves all over Giant Dawn really needs to be made into a poster. Or a billboard. MB x the dawn likeness was HORRIBLE in that panel. I think the Dawn likeness is ALWAYS horrible, but even more so when we had the artist for Issue 10. I still think a lot of the likenesses are off... I've never seen Buffy look like SMG...except in Jo Chen's covers. Towards the end, Twilight says, "I'll not kill you now. My first gift is my last. I know that you meant well." It sounds like he's saying he's responsible for Buffy. Which, of course, makes me think of Giles. But I can't imagine Giles *ever* saying that he'd kill Buffy. Ever. This Twilight guy doesn't really seem evil to me. Of course, we all think he is because he's Buffy's enemy, but he didn't just decide to kill all the ones that do good. His mission seems to be to restore the natural balance of things, not to let evil win. That quote could be a lead to a thin Hank Summers. Who better to really mess with Buffy's mind? Me too. Before 11th issue,i didn't care about Season 8 that much.A Beautiful Sunset made me feel like i was watching a Buffy episode on Tv.Bufy and Xander's talk,Buffy's birthday,a mysterious big bad...I'm looking forward to reading next issue. I agree. I mean, I was enjoying Season 8 before this issue, but it was the first time it felt like it was the show. I think the reason why I loved this issue so much was because it wasn't TOO over the top with effects and stuff. This was also the first issue where I could hear Sarah Michelle Gellar's voice perfectly. I completely agree with your comment at Sarah's voice. This issue was amazing. I guess I thought every issue so far (except issue 7) was amazing, but now I believe my thoughts like that were just coming form that fact that we had Buffy back in any form and quality. But when we have an issue like Issue 11, I'm not going to be as happy with the next arc if Drew's writing of the characters is anything but what Joss delivered this month. However, I'm not as excited about the next issue as some are. I mean, Issue 11 was from Joss. I don't want to be eager for the next issue because of the writing in this issue and then end up extremely disappointed. So I'll just sit back and relax and be eager for Angel After the Fall issue four.

I don't think Hank really cares about Buffy enough to do all of this. It would be a good twist, and I've mentioned before it'd be neat if they brought Hank in as a real character with depth, but I don't see it happening. Me neither really.

Really? I thought that was one of the best Michelle likenesses in the series so far. i took another look at the page and am still not seeing ANY michelle likeness in it... to me, she looks more like a 30-ish cougar at a club. also, the nose is HUUUUGE.

im going with wreckked's theory...Ben.
I really really dont think its riley. If it is then ah well but I think it'd be seriously crap if it was riley...it just seems to much of a fan fictionish idea I hate it. The evidence points to caleb more I think but again Im like 99% sure joss wouldnt bring him back.
So yeah I think mainly ben at the moment. Out of all the theories that one appeals to me the most. Maybe he was left with some sort of hell god power from glory...although I have no explanation for how he could have come back alive. Plus with Ben maybe we could have a glory cameo for a one shot or an arc or something...but I wouldnt want the seaosn 5 set up of glory controlling his body cos we've been there done that and put it to rest.
I sort of hope its not actually ben but out of all the theories so far Id prefer this cos this riley idea everyone seems obssessed with sounds horrible to me.
oh and about the issue in geneal...fracking awesome. I really disliked issue 10...thought joss had lost his touch...but I bummed this issue. Cannot WAIIITTTTT for wolves at the gate.

I'm going to take a leap and say firmly, it's not Ben. *crosses fingers that I'm right* lol im with you on that one but like i said id take ben over riley...Id seriously despise it if it was riley.lol. I dont really think it will be ben but id prefer it to be ben over al the other theories that have been said but overall would like it to be someone that hasnt been said but would still take me by surprise...but i cant think of anyone else now... jus please please please please...dont be riley...

If it *is* Riley, I hope they do a really good job explaining how dear sweet Riley turned into this guy.

I'm going to agree with airgirl. When I read the issue I thought it might be Ethan. And I know I totally shot down the idea that he would come back, but now I am rethinking it. Ethan's presence and death in the very first arch is what makes him my suspect. I think he could have easily "faked" his death to Buffy by creating a mystical illusion of sorts. We also have no idea as to what he has been up to since he was taken away by the Initiative in Season 4...I mean this is 4 to 5 years later and he was already magically inclined...being locked up doesn't mean that he wouldn't be able to practice and progress his magical abilities.

I hadn't thought of that. It would be rather weird for them to bring him back *in a dream* no less, and then just kill him off.

I don't think it's Ethan. Ethan LOVES magic. I think it's much more likely that the military used him as a sorce of power for their evil schemes than him being willingly in on it. I think he was kept prisoner and helped Buffy for the good of magic (and to save his ass). Ethan was killed when Buffy got close because he was too well informed and was a threat.
To strengthen the Riley option, is this guy's plan really that evil? Ridding the world of magic will probably be quite good for the world. Also the nastier things the guy said could be a result of the power he's doped up on (see Dark Willow)

I don't see why there couldn't be a non-fatal option. They were all regular girls to start with afterall. It's more dramatic if removing magic kills them though I guess.

I don't think he's evil. His intentions are good, at least. But since he's Buff's enemy, we automatically hate him, you know?

This was my favourite issue to date, which is saying alot cause willow wasn't in it.
It was amusing, emotional, and kinda nostalgic..

You would think buffy would be a bit happier now she has an army and is not alone, that was the big cudos from chosen. I only realized the other day when i rewatched chosen was the fact Caleab was the first human life she took, sure he was evil but still human. Maybe she wont let herself be happy because she has robbed a joint and killed someone..... oops sounds like i was talking about Faith.
my new guess for twighlight, Sam became a slayer, dumped Rileys ass, the first is now using him to restore the balance.
I do hope that the big bad isn't just twighlight I think it would be cool if theres a puppet master behind the scenes like Cordy and the beast.

I'm thinking Twilight's an incorperal supernatural force/being/thingy. Whoever is under the mask is just the "shell" as Illyria would say.
That being said: you know who I think's under the mask?
Jonathan.

That being said: you know who I think's under the mask? Jonathan. Good theory. But I hope not. That would be just a little too Superstar-ish for my tastes. Besides, he's dead!
