Welcome, Wenxina.
I'd like to add to the list of possibilities that the critical hit could be the unmasking of the traitor. It could be that they lose an ally to betrayal at a crucial moment, causing a fracture in loyalty across the board.

What if by "massive hit", they mean Satsu getting vamped? Then Buffy would have to kill her.

I just looked at the covers for this issue again and they are definitely my favourites overall. Both are spectacular. Both Jon and Georges have really outdone themselves.

You know, it just struck me, looking at Georges' cover and the Seven Samurai poster: didn't something like four of the seven die?

You think that four or five from the characters that appear on the cover will die?If thats the case then my guess will be Drac, Renee ,Andrew and (something that grieves me to admit ) Satsu .Unless Joss plans on getting rid of a Slayerette

You think that four or five from the characters that appear on the cover will die? Not necessarily. It's just that it's obviously an homage to "Seven Samurai", and with the talk about a "massive hit" that just popped into my head. Now I wish it would pop right back out...

So, I've stared at the regular cover art many times now, trying to figure out what the hey is happening, and I've decided that of all the painted covers, this is by far the worst. Was not a fan of the regular for #14 either, but this one pretty much grabs the cake. In what's supposed to be a really dynamic scene, it just doesn't pop, and everything's just stagnant. Which is kinda disappointing as I do like the painted #13 cover, and I own the painted #11. But overall, something's just off with Jon Foster's stuff (my personal opinion). It's not an issue of capturing the likenesses of the actors, but it's almost flat for the most part. I thought his work on #12 was interesting, but I loved the variant more. I like being able to tussle with my inner miser, so when one cover is clearly superior to the other, it's a let down. Am looking forward to Jo Chen's return though... even though I usually find the variants more compositionally interesting.

what if the massive hit is Buffy getting transported to Haddyn for issue 16? That was my guess from before (lots of posts back I think)... the whole thing about losing a leader. Caution: SPOILER-esque detail below. If the solicitations for #16 are to be believed, then I'd say that this is not the case, as Willow and Buffy head to NYC, and then the whammy happens. But maybe... End SPOILER-esque bit. But anyway... looking at Buffy's S1 outfit, I was struck by a certain moment of deja vu. I just watched "As You Were" from Season 6, and the lightweight body armor that Riley is wearing... pretty much the same design scheme as the ones the Slayers wear when on away missions. Kinda nifty.

Well that is a pretty good guess ! That could connectRiley with the Slayers perhaps?Maybe they were given armor advice or any advice of any kind by him?

Or maybe Buffy remembers how much pain it saved her... Riley did tell her to thank him after... and since she's now heisting for funding... coughing up some dough for fancy armor shouldn't be too hard. I'm not sure where I stand on having all the previous cast members make appearances. Riley, just in reference would be fine... but I feel that there was a sense of finality and closure when he left Sunnydale, again. Unless you want to read into some of that pent-up sexiness between the two of them just before the Mrs. walked in.

I am with you on this one, i think that the moment he left good ol' Sunnydale he and Buffy were as much history as the Crimean War but that wouldn't bother him from helping the Organization's set up

I hope that the "massive hit" is not a death of someone important.. But it would be better if it was that they lose the Scotland Castle, or a bunch of unamed Slayers died (to tell you the truth I wouldn't care as long as they're not my favorite characters.

I have a feeling Buffy gets de-powered before heading to Haddyn. Wow, then that's gonna make her fall from that rooftop kinda painful.

Also, it just occured to me that if most of the slayers get depowered, so what? I mean, considering they survive the battle royale (if that's what goes down), and Buffy gets the Scythe back, and Willow lives (which according to the solicitations for #16, she does, unless we're operating on non-linear timelines here), what's to stop Willow from recasting the Slayer spell? So... that's just my way of saying that I don't buy massive depowering as the massive hit. Unless of course they all get massacred, which would be mildly tragic, if only I knew more names to mourn.
