Fred is alive and well ...inside Illyria She'll come out more and more as time goes on Love both those characters I don't think we can completely say this is the case...yet. Without more information about what is happening to Illyria, we just can't say that it is Fred in there causing Illyria to show emotion. For all we know, LA + Hell + Illyria might be the source of some off occurrences, but that's just an assumption. She could still also be rather broken up over Wesley's death. Illyria and Wesley both went through something very odd and strange, and in the end, it did humanize Illyria a bit. So these emotions she has been showing could be remnant of her experience with Wesley. Also, Illyria said it herself that Fred's soul had been destroyed when she took over. So Fred was gone, completely eradicated from her body. Now two points emerge from this. Was Illyria lying, or misinformed? She's never lied before, and probably doesn't even understand what the point of lying would be. Misinformed? I also think this is unlikely. Sure she lied dormant in a sarchopphagus for eons, but Illyria ran amok through the world for a long while, so I'm pretty sure she knew what was going on. Once again, I say this is all just my opinion from what I have seen and formulated from watching show and reading the comics, and in the end all I can really say is that we just have to wait and see. ;D

Fred is alive and well ...inside Illyria She'll come out more and more as time goes on Love both those characters There was an argument about this at my contest! Her soul is destroyed. How is she inside Illyria? Her soul is destroyed! If you mean how Illyria was actually developing feelings, that's from being in a human body and being stuck in a plane with other humans. She got a little close to them... mostly Wesley, but he was the one there when she inhabited Fred's dead body.

But has anyone in a position of authority on the topic confirmed that Fred's soul is, in fact, destroyed? If the vampire lore has proved *anything* it's that a soul, like energy, can't be created or destroyed. Souls are always out there. They can be summoned (Orb of Thesula) and they can be contained (AtS: Season Four), but to suggest they can be destroyed sounds like more than a stretch.

Wasn't it said IN Angel? That'd be one of the "official" people's writing.

Yes, it was said "in" Angel. But wasn't it said by Dr. Sparrow? Since when is he the authority on souls? It's also been said "in" Angel that "You cannot beat me, I am a part of them," etc etc. Well, he--a bad guy who works for W&H--was wrong. What makes everyone so sure that Sparrow--a bad guy who works for W&H--was NOT wrong?

well for starters it was jsut me wishful thinking, didnt mean it was fact. And as i recall only a doctor said her soul was destroyed, to wesley, and he just accepted it and relayed the same info onto Angel and the others. So unless Joss says her soul is completely gone then i wont believe Fred is no more Then again, the soul may have been destroyed, and the essence of it taken in by the soul that took her body, Illyria. Again, wishful thinking. I just think we'll see more of fred in Illyria as time goes by
