I voted Spike/Dru. Even though it was only 1/2 a season,I felt that they were the best couple on the show.JM and JL,I felt ,had the best on-camera chemistry, and Spike was at his evil best with her.

Less than half a season, actually. They were only shown together for six episodes or so before Angelus showed up and killed their romance. But there were plans to bring Drusilla back for Season 4, right along with Spike. It didn't happen only because Juliet Landau was busy at the time.
Joss Whedon: Why did [Spike] go away [in Lover's Walk]? Well, there's just a lot going on. But he'll be back. And the other one too, that girl he hangs out with. What was her name again...? (December 1998)
AICN: At the Angel event at the Museum of TV & Radio a few years ago, Joss Whedon mentioned the original plan was to bring Spike and Dru back as regulars for Buffy's fourth season, but Juliet Landau turned out to be too busy to return. Do you think Buffy and Spike would have eventually coupled-up anyway had Dru returned? Jane Espenson: Oh yeah. Joss doesn't like to leave any couple together too long. We'd already seen what Spike and Dru were like as a couple. If she'd returned I think we'd've played 'em like an interesting divorced couple -- a bit of heat and love still there between them, but mostly challenged into conflict and jealousy.

^ Spike and Dru were actually planned to return at the end of Season 3 too, but the show was already very full with the Mayor and Faith.

Really? I've never heard of that. Maybe that's what Joss was referring to in that quote about Lover's Walk.
