I was wondering which of the two you prefer. Seeing as both the gangs have lost their memories, which was better?
I'm not a big Tabula Rasa fan. I mean I like the episode, I just don't find it THAT funny. I found most of the jokes rather lame and unfunny. The only parts I really found funny was Anya making bunnies, Anys mis-pronouncing her name and Randy. I like the episode more for the drama then comedy. I found the Buffy/Giles and Willow/Tara scenes much more interesting.
Spin the Bottle on the other hand, I was laughing the ENTIRE episode. Every character was hilarious! Gunn punching Wesley, Lorne the devil, bitch Cordy, pothead Fred, Liam, Cordelia screaming, Angel "masturbating" and so much more.
Angel: I'm invisible! Cordy: No you're not.

My favorite of the two is definitely "Spin the Bottle," as it is just perfect. Alexis Denisof channelled the old Wesley so well and was just hilarious throughout the entire episode. I though Charisma did rather well too, although I thought she didn't quite nail her old self quite as well as Alexis. Fred was also hilarious, and the scenes with Gunn and Wesley were great as well. Angel getting frightened over everything was also hilarious.
I love Tabula Rasa as well, I just thought it got a little boring near the end (when Xander, Willow, Tara and Dawn were in the sewers), but I thought all of the scenes in the magic box were great, especially with Xander. I nearly die every time when he starts to pray and then when he faints.

They are both great, but yeah. I already voiced my opinion.
Gunn: You better pray I don't look that word up!

Regardless of which episode is better, just thinking about RANDY GILES makes me crack up every single time I think about it. This part is also amazing...
Buffy: You're a vampire. Spike: I, me, a vampire? No. Buffy: Check the lumpies and the teeth. Spike: (feels fangs) Buffy: I kill your kind. Spike: And I bite yours. So how come I don't want to bite you? And why am I fighting other vampires? I must be a noble vampire. A good guy, on a mission of redemption. I help the helpless. I'm a vampire with a soul. Buffy: A vampire with a soul? Oh my god, how lame is that?

I voted for Tabula Rasa. I root for the underdog. Plus, it's a hilarious episode. Both are, actually. But you just can't beat Randy Giles.

I like them both but I voted for "Spin the Bottle" because it has more laughs. Randy Giles is about the only thing I really found funny about "Tabula Rasa".

Tabula Rasa to me was the best for the sole fact that "Randy" said "Dad can drive. He's bound to have some classic midlife-crisis transport. Something red, shiny, shaped like a penis."

I voted for Tabula Rasa. It is a favourite episode of mine, the writing was great and the performances were impeccable.
And that ending! It has to be one of the saddest Buffy/Angel scenes ever.

I absolutely love Spin The Bottle, it's easily the funniest episode of Angel. I don't really think Angel, as a series, really pulled off the all-comedy episodes as well as Buffy did but in a battle between these episodes it's Spin The Bottle all the way. Added to the great comedy it also managed to give each of the characters just a bit more backstory. It also manages to bring a lot of the conflicts right to the surface (the first almost-brawl between Wesley and Gunn) and Wes' ridiculously cold "I had my throat slit and all of my friends abandoned me". Tabula Rasa does make me chuckle, but all in all it's not one of my favourites...and it follows Once More With Feeling so while rewatching the series it always seems like a rather weak sauce followup. And that ending! It has to be one of the saddest Buffy/Angel scenes ever. Man really? If we're going by the last scenes Spin The Bottle kicks this one out of the park as well. Buffy has a montage set to pop music as people wallow in misery, Angel's had the only (though I could be wrong, maybe there was another) time on either series that Angel himself actually shed a tear. The "Were we in love?" "We were" exchange is absolutely heartbreaking... Of course...tainted now with all the Jasmine stuff but that's still some great drama!

The "Were we in love?" "We were" exchange is absolutely heartbreaking... Of course...tainted now with all the Jasmine stuff but that's still some great drama! You say pop music like it's a bad thing. I don't think the producers could have found a more fitting song. The characters weren't just wallowing in misery. It was a turning point for most of the major characters. In my opinion it was the perfect follow up to Once More With Feeling. It was layered storytelling with a great metaphor. Given I haven't watched Spin The Bottle since it first aired, so maybe I should go and rewatch it. I've always been biased in favour of Buffy but Tabula Rasa will always be a favourite of mine. For me it holds up with the best episodes of Angel easily. Also in You're Welcome I think Angel cries a little. Well, as close to crying as I can remember him ever being.

I didn't much care for the way Buffy acted in that episode. She acted well...kind of stupid. It was not even in the Valley girl sorta way. She just seemed stupid. All the other acted like perfectly logical people who had lost their memories but Buffy. "Maybe I'm like a super hero or something!"

"Tabula Rasa"! Such a fantastic and funny episode all round. Although, I have to say that "Spin The Bottle" was the funniest episode of Angel in my opinion.

Not really sure. Tabula Rasa. Simply because the humor was better. But the shark demon was LAME and very stupid.
