I thought it would've been better as a horror movie rather than a comedy.

I enjoyed it when I was young. Now, I wouldn't say I love or hate it. I watch it once in a while and take it for what it is: A cheesy movie that opened the doors for my favorite show!

I actually semi-enjoyed it. The two good things about it was what was left of Joss's script and Kristy Swanson. There was lots of cheese, bad acting and bad directing. But it's a fun movie if there is nothing else to do. I also really liked Paul Reubens in it. He was hilarious!

True. But than again, Joss might've pitched it anyway to the WB.

The movie was alright, obviously the show was far superior though. Mainly the only reason I thought the movie was alright were because there were parts that made me laugh to the point of tears in my eyes, like the part where the basketball coach shows his team his game plan. If you don't know what I'm talkin about, rewatch it and look closely at what the coach wrote lol.

Out of your options I had to say that I hate it...it has its moments but every time I watch it, knowing the series so well and having read Joss's original script I can't help but think what it should have been or could have been if it had been realized as Joss had envisioned it. On the other had that could have bad for the Saga of Buffy because if it had been as good as it could have been we might have, what...a few sequels...each worse than the one before it. Now we have Seven seasons of a great TV show and comic to continue it...I think it was better for the world that the movie was the horror it was...and not horror in a good way.

I voted that I hate it though I don't really HATE it but I don't like it, that's for sure ! It clearly suffered from a low budget and doesn't have a lot in common with the show.
Besides, the first time I saw it, I saw it in French and the translations were absolutely AWFUL (Buffy's name has been translated by Bichette for example !! Ridiculous !). Way better in English but still it cannot be compared with the show.

Hmm, there are some good stuff in it, but its just FAR too camp The two lead vampires are just awful, and the final showdown between Buffy and Lothos is laughably bad. He's got to be the worst vampire fighter in the world! lol, I think I could have taken him, never mind a Slayer Maybe they should do a George Lucas style directors cut, and CGI all the vamps turning to dust when staked. If I ever watch it I can't help doing the dusting sound effect whenever Buffy kills one

I don't love it or hate it, so I guess I won't vote. It isn't that great of a movie, but I still like to watch it every time its on TV. It has its moments.

If he pulled the original footage (provided it was still around) and did a new cut of the film being able to use new angles and unused footage he might be able to make it truer to his original idea. Have they ever had a "Writer's Cut" of a movie before.

No hated it the first time I saw it. Hated it more after watching the series. The movie was nothing like what Joss wanted, hell Joss doesnt even claim the movie. They took creative control away from him and went a different direction with the movie which didnt agree with Joss

I loved it when i was younger. But as i grew older and the tv show started i didn't love it as much but i still really enjoy watching it. Its still apart of the Buffy history cannon even so. If it wasn't for the movie we may never have gotten the tv show. So I'm great-full for it.

Well you could read the comic "The Origin" (included in the BTVS Omnibus Vol.1) which is based on Whedon's original script for the movie, so had differences here and there to the actual film Plus it has likeness' of SMG and the watcher from Becoming pt.1, rather than Swanson & Sutherland
There is however the annoying thing the early Buffy comics had, with vampires with green skin, and way OTT demonic features Vampires look like werewolves? wtf?
