I liked Gavin! I was kinda pissed when he was killed by the beast and then we had zombie Gavin. I liked that he had the "lawyer" attitude that Wolfram and Hart was all about. Lindsay had to much grey area and his morality went back and forth. If all the other lawyers at W and H were like Linsday then they would have never been the badass evil law firm that they were.

Yay! Gavin's getting a little love! ;D I was never trying to say that Gavin was a better, more fully-developed character than Lindsey. But when it comes to which one I enjoy watching more, especially in their scenes with Lilah, it's Gavin, hands-down.

Lindsey all the way. I like everything about the character and the actor. I saw him on an episode of Dawsons the other day. He was Gretchen's horrible ex.

I hated Gavin too. GAVIN (freezes) Uh...hi. The Beast grabs Gavin by the throat, lifting him into the air, and pulls him out of the room. BEAST (looks at Gavin, cocks his head) Oh.... The Beast snaps Gavin's neck and drops him on the ground amid rolls of toilet paper.

Despite showing terrific potential, Lilah's role in most season 2 and 3 episodes was to serve as a plot contrivance. With the exception of Buffy Season 7, however, the Mutant Enemy team have rarely been content to have a recurring character serve only in this capacity.
Lilah was created for this role: after serving as a relatively generic (if witty) well-dressed face through the end of season 1, she was used through season 2 primarily to give Lindsey someone to talk to. After his departure, she took over his and Holland's role as the primary face of W&H. However, through early season 3, very little effort was made to round out Lilah's character: instead of delving into what makes her tick, she was given her own shallow sparring partner, Gavin, to make her seem more likable.
Fortunately, by mid season 3, she was given some much-needed depth, chiefly, in "Sleep Tight," which admirably took a character that had been fun, but 2-dimensional in the past and made her genuinely compelling without making her any less of a threat. This Lilah, who was both temptress to Wesley and was tempted by him, was infinitely more interesting. By "Habeas Corpses," I think everyone felt genuinely afraid for Lilah's safety despite her wickedness, and even if her goodbye in "Reprise" was more a moment for Wes than for her, it's remarkable that a character we cared so little for in "The Ring" could drive one of the best moments Angel the Series (or primetime TV in general has ever offered).
Lilah never radiated the level of threat that Sam Anderson could achieve with his Holland Manners, but as a character she is by far the most interesting Wolfram and Hart v 1.0 employee. In my opinion, she would have been given more room to breathe, had she not been burdened with Lindsey and Gavin to hamper her development as a character. Her banter with both was razor sharp, and often hilarious. However, in hindsight, Angel the Series would have been much better if ME had taken the interest in her in the first place, ditched the peripheral men in her life in favor of more character development.
Go Lee Mercer!

Is this for serious? It's like asking who is better, Lorne or Merl. Lindsey, of course! More screen time. Actually an influential character. Long lasting. Great character moments. Only cast member other than Angel to be in the first and last episodes. Easily a Top Five character in the series. Why can't this be serious? Lindsay...whiny...annoying character and if we would have had more "at home" moments with Gavin...maybe people would have been more receptive.Personally,I thought he was excellent. Great Wolfram and Hart lawyer. It's like what the senor partners wanted to Lindsay to be. Lindsay was all over the place with his feelings he never could be that. Although...did they ever say how him and Eve met? Was always kind of curious.Although, Eve wasn't very exciting to me so...in that respect they made an appropriate couple.
